Since its my first shaving brush I have nothing to compare it to other than my own assumptions. I had assumed that a shaving brush was supposed to be more coarse and offer moderate resistance. However this brush simply was so soft that it just flattened out against my face with barely any pressure. This may be sought after by some brush users but not me. It did work pretty well at applying the shave soap but was looking for something that would feel more like light to moderate grain sandpaper on my face. Im just one of the strange types i guess.
**UPDATE** I still use this brush (i spent the money on it why wouldnt i use it?) but i use it more or less to "slap" the shave cream on rather than use it as most do. i may just start using it to make the foam and then just apply it with my hand.

It has a nice heavy base and handle. This is the first time I'm using a shaving brush and it seem rather easy to develop a nice lather with this brush. The brush looks great, has a nice feel and balance, but the bristles started coming out after the first week. I bought this to replace my Tweeserman that went for over a year before it started going bald. I returned this and am stumped what to get now.
