I've needed to wear a mouth guard for years, but the few times I've tried...I couldn't do it. Usually I would end up gagging on the mouth piece or drooling everywhere because the mouthguard was too cumbersome to get my lips around.
I'm still having symptoms attributed to TMJ (developed from being a long-time grinder) but the guard has helped reduce the pain of them. I've been using the first guard since August 31, 2010 and it still functions though there is definitely significant wear on it.
I haven't discussed with my dentist about the possibility of these OTC guard messing up my bite, but have an appointment in March and will update then. I know that is a big concern so you may want to consult your doctor before moving forward with these.
Easy to set up, instructions were clear. Zero problems so far.
