The first thing you should think about before purchasing a product of this kind is what type of injury you truly have. Is it just a sore muscle, inflamed tendon or is it perhaps a tear or something requiring a doctor or an anti-inflammatory? I would advise anyone with this injury to first use the tried and true methods of rest, ice, compression and elevation, if you can. If you are a tennis player, weight lifter or other recreational athlete, lay off for a week or 2 and take some OTC anti-inflammatories to let the area heal. If it's still very sore or painful, you may need to get it looked at by a professional. OK, this is where I stop being your mother.
This brace essentially keeps the area compressed, which means the muscles and tendons can't pull away from the radius and ulna (forearm bones) when exercising, shoveling, raking, or other activities that would cause such an event. Therefore, you are able to complete your tasks with less pain. As such, I think it does a commendable job. I had purchased a flimsy elbow brace from CVS for $16 and it did absolutely nothing. This brace allows me to work out with less discomfort, and is priced reasonably. If you are having forearm pain, it is worth at least trying after, as I said, you rest the area first.
