I'll try and make this short but it is a good story: Several years ago my doctor sent me to Hanger to see if something could be done for the major difference in my leg lengths since I was running for Triathlons. Hanger doc gave me a set of these adjust-a-lifts and I instantly dropped my mile time from 10min miles to 8min miles and felt good.
Fast forward to a few weeks ago, Hanger now wants to charge me $30 for 1 heel lift...good news is that my insurance will cover 90% of the cost but I have to get a docters referal (where obviously my co-pay of $20 would put me darn close to the same price) So I go online and find that I can buy 4 heel lifts direct from Amazon for the same price it would have cost me to buy using my health care coverage and also spent time waiting in docter visits.
You want to know where the problems exsist in our health care...doctors are over charging and then in turn making our health care providers pay the cost while people who have no health care get written off.
This product rocks, don't be a fool and try to buy it from your doctor when you can get it for cheaper online. I've tried many shoe incerts and this one by far is the best!!!

Description of Adjust-a-Lift Heel Lift - LARGE - Men 9.5 up; Women 10.5 up (2-3/4'' wide)
The Adjust-a-Lift is sold in single lifts, not pairs. The Adjust-a-Lift is made of 1/8" three layers of neoprene rubber and a layer of leather on top. The layers can be removed to get approximately the right height when placed in the shoe. One layer provides 1/8" lift, 2 layers, 1/4" lift and 3 layers 3/8" lift. The layer of leather makes this more of a lift than a pad; similar-looking products with a nylon top are generally too soft and spongy to serve as heel lifts. The main advantage of the Adjust-a-Lift is that you need not remove the insole or foot bed of your shoe to use it, as the top leather cover is absorbent and comfortable underfoot. However, it cannot be cleaned but can be expected to last as long as the pair of shoes in which it is placed. The neoprene material used is somewhat compressible, so you may notice your heel moving up and down or rubbing in your shoe slightly when walking with an Adjust-a-Lift. The foam will also compress slightly as you walk on it, so the height it provides will become less over time. The Adjust-a-Lift is usually used in closed-heel fashion.
