Customer Review: Detects alcohol but not accurately

I bought one of these to use as an aid to know when I can safely drive after having a few drinks at the bar. Of course before using it I wanted to test it at home several times to see if it provided consistent measurements. What I've found is that it is not accurate. I drank one glass of wine...waited 30 mins and tested. It came up as .066. This seemed high but I thought maybe it was right. A couple days later I drank the same amount of wine...waited 30 mins and tested again. It read .040. I began to wonder. Then this evening I had one more glass of wine and it tested me at .019. I haven't been drinking in between so I know there is no tolerance.
I can't recommend this item to anyone. When it arrived it seemed very cheaply made...like a generic product from China...which it apparently is. The fact that it doesn't work well tops it off.

The item did not work out of the box, acting like the battery was low and would error out when taking the test. I tested several sets of different brands of batteries on a voltmeter and determined them all to be good, none of them helped this product work any better. I immediately returned it and purchased a similar model from this same company through Sharper Image, which stopped working two weeks later, claiming I was a .39 even sober (At .39 BAC, most people would need to be hospitalized). I followed all precautions set forth in the manual and feel these products are not made to last and others should spend their money more wisely.Customer Review: Deffective

I purchased this device which never gave an alcohol reading, only error messages. I exchanged it for a replacement and that device gave a sensor error or would shut off during the waiting period. I would not recommend this device the two that I had were faulty.Customer Review: Bad choice for the money

I would not recommend this product to anyone. It is very slow to get ready and slow to recover after use, and often we get an error message repeatedly. The error messages says to try again. I wish I still had the box. I'd send it back.
