Most typical cheap multi-vitamins are a series of various chemical powders, each of which contains one of the vitamins. The problem is, as you get older, your body extracts less and less nutrients this way. Amazing though it sounds, the body has an easier time extracting vitamins from actual food.
These Alive multi-vitamins are exactly that. They have the various vitamins, embedded within various super-foods. All of these are, in turn, pressed into neat little tablets. They have all of the vitamins you need, although these don't have iron. If you eat a good amount of meat, you won't need the iron added (they do make a variety which has iron if you need it).
Because the vitamins are in food form, your body can extract the actual amount of vitamins listed on the side. In addition, the vitamins are extracted more gradually as the food is broken down.
Overall, these are a huge step up from the regular $10 vitamins you find at the local drug store, for not much more money. In my experience, they are worth the extra money.
