Many years ago I bought a Wahl beard trimmer. It took AA batteries. Worked great, lasting a lot of years. I replaced it with a Conair (that was all the drug store had). It was rechargeable and also worked well for many years. Late last year I replaced it with a Remington (don't know the model) but if you didn't hold the thing just so, you would end up with bald patches. I returned that and bought another Wahl based on my prior experience. It was cheaply made and pulled as much as it cut. After 3 months it died completely so I tossed it. After looking for something worthwhile I found the Andis. This is really built well and does a great job with my beard. I ask my barber and he only uses Andis products. I initially gave it 4 stars because the teeth on the attachments could be closes together but I don't think it was really designed for beards. Works great anyway. I read a comment about oiling the shaver before during and after use. That is because Andis assumed it would be used professionally all day. AND IT IS MADE IN THE U.S.A. For that, I gave it 5 stars.
