Customer Review: Awesome NATURAL deodorant (mislabeled as"antiperspirant") --- it actually WORKS!!! :)

First of all, I must point out that this product has been mislabeled here as an "antiperspirant", which it is not (natural deodorants never are, since the "antiperspirant" ingredients are what potentially cause cancer.) This product's label, clearly seen in the picture, advertises it as being an "aluminum free, paraben free, natural deodorant."
Ok, having cleared that up, I am happy to report that this deodorant is absolutely fantastic! It smells wonderful (a crisp, clean, almost sporty-like scent, like the smell of many men's body washes...I'm a total girly-girl, however, and the sporty fragrance doesn't bother me at all or make me feel like I smell manly or anything.) Even better than the way it smells, though, is the fact that I don't feel like I'm just covering up my own body odor. I live in the southern CA desert, where it is 110°+ the whole summer, and sweating is completely unavoidable. Any other natural deodorants I've tried recently (Tom's of Maine, various salt crystal types, Jason, and a few others I can't recall off the top of my head right now) did nothing to prevent the sour pit odor that can occur in miserable summer temps, no matter how fastidious I was regarding my personal hygiene! I didn't want to, but I finally had to give up on using safer, healthier, "natural" deodorants because I couldn't stand my own stench (and I'm pretty sure others around me couldn't stand it, either!) I reluctantly went back to using an antiperspirant deodorant that has aluminum and paraben in it...effective against sweat and odor, but at the risk of causing cancer?? Yikes.
My mom found this product while she was on vacation, and decided to give it a try, even though we'd both concluded that natural deodorants just don't work as well - or even at all - as regular antiperspirant deodorants do. Thank goodness we've been proven wrong! Finally, here's a natural deodorant which I can feel safe and comfortable using, it works all day, smells terrific, and keeps me from smelling like a funky hippie! :) (I'm all for a green, holistic, all-natural lifestyle, but...you know what I mean??) I highly recommend this deodorant!

I buy this for my husband, he is always too warm and that makes him sweat a lot but anti-perspirants cause him to break out. I found a mineral stone deodorant that worked really good for him but he didn't like the stone and he travels frequently so the spray wasn't practical. I was buying some other all-natural stick deodorant(can't remember the brand, but it was very expensive) from the health-food store and then one day he forgot to pack it for a trip to Cabazon, CA. I don't know where he bought it, but he came home with this and said, "Get me some more." so I started looking in all the stores around here but all I could find were the lavender and apricot scented versions-then I tried Amazon and not only did they have it, but the price is reasonable too.
In his job he needs to be able to go from working on the machines out on the floor, to sitting in the conference room for corporate-level meetings so it was really important to find something that would work. Brands like Speedstick would only work for a couple of hours at best, and then the odor would start to come through-then I got him started trying the natural alternatives and he was amazed. No more irritation from the perfumes, and no more stinky arm-pits by 9 am. This stuff is great.

I've tested several natural deodorants and while they may feel good knowing it's natural, it feels so much worse (especially on a hot day) when an hour or two later u feel (and likely smell) like u don't have any deodorant on whatsoever. After so many tries, I too had given up on this genre.
Then a friend of mine, who happened to be with me when I was out of town and shopping and who knew I was into natural stuff, introduced me to this. Reluctantly, I tried it and while initially I didn't like it because it wasn't as effective as the deodorant I had been using at the time, I switched once it sank in that this actually worked. It has a light, fresh, and clean scent that isn't too "perfumey" and blends well with almost anything.
Within the class of natural deodorants that's where this one shines now in that it works, which in my opinion deserves a 5-star since it is outclassing its competition just that much. Don't be mistaken, it is not comparable to the aluminum & other chemical prone deodorants and antiperspirants so easy available and on the market today, but reapplications go a long way. So be prepared to re-apply it in extreme situations and feel good knowing it's natural...and working.

I had been using the Thai Crystal for years, but out of nowhere it started causing me a lot of irritation--AND it seemed that its longevity effectiveness was waning as well. I actually switched to the highly rated Ban roll-on for a bit--which is certainly effective and non-irritating, but it has all those scary ingredients . . . and it is pretty gloppy going on.
I was extremely surprised at how few effective alternatives were out there!
I finally searched out (because of the reviews here) and found the Arm and Hammer Essentials locally (not easy.) I really, really love it. No irritation, and it actually seems to be MORE effective than anything else I have ever tried. Period. I am a VERY happy customer so far.
If you are extremely scent sensitive--this "unscented" deo does have what I consider to be a faint orange/citrus thing going on--but I found to be not at all unpleasant, and it dissipates pretty quickly.
I didn't purchase it here because I didn't need or want 4 sticks without knowing if I liked it. If A&H Essentials ceased being available locally, I would have no issue stocking up on it here now.

I've been using A&H Essentials now for five months - and this is the best deodorant I've ever used!! Best at preventing odor and best at preventing stains/damage to shirts!
I'm a 40 - something male who started using non-aluminum deodorants because I was concerned about what the aluminum was doing to my skin (rashes & skin growths). I switched to non-aluminum products about 6 years ago (and the skin problems went away), but frankly none of the products I tried worked very well. I tried Tom's, Herbal Sport, the Thai Stone, and others; generally they worked for a few hours but by the end of the day you smelled like a gym and your shirts were stained.
This product works all day - I can't believe how effective it is. It's better than I remember with the aluminum products. Whether a day at work or a heavy work out, the product prevents odor and retains a fresh aroma. Even more importantly, it is the FIRST product I've ever used that totally eliminates staining from shirts. I buy these from Amazon in bulk and couldn't be happier with the product.
