This product or a similar one is a must for aging parents, people with balance problems, chronic illnesses and for general safety in a wet, slippery environment.
For some people the size of an older tub might prevent this from attachng firmly. I actually had to shim the clamp to get a firm closure. I've only had to adjust it once since I intalled it for my husband who has PD.
We began using this safety bar before he had serious issues so that his body would be familiar with the kenetic motions required. I'm glad we did because he had a temporary downturn in his health and urgently needed the firm support required. It was only because his body knew how to move to the bath seat using the bar that we were able to get him in and out of the tub/shower.
Some people might prefer a bar which is perpendicular to the tub but we find that this works well and are pleased with it.
I'm not happy with the fact that I had to shim it significantly because I think a better design would have solved that problem.

The box had obviously been previously opened, and I was sold new goods. The grab works well, but there were some places where the paint (?) enamel (?) was slightly chipped, so I would not call the quality what it should have been. I kept it since it works and it is more or less what I need.
