I bought this and the flip up 2x magnifier that attaches to glasses for my friend who could no longer see to read. This magnifier worked for her. The flip up glasses didn't, but I'm keeping them for myself. They will be perfect for getting out splinters and any other close focus work. I was hoping to find glass lenses, but the acrylic is very clear. This over the head hands free magnifier probably is best for reading, because it's so easy to adjust the focal length by moving the paper or book, and because it's simple to adjust the neck strap to get in a comfortable position. I'm thrilled that my friend can read again, and recommend the magnifier for anyone with vision problems not easily corrected by glasses.
