Customer Review: Finally, I can throw away my blades

I have a sensitive skin, and a light beard, and had never found an electric razor that gave me anything like a satisfactory shave. I stopped looking about 3 years ago. The reviews of the Syncro were excellent, so I thought that I would give it a try, and it really is great. I like to have a very close shave, and was very happy with the results from the Mach 3, and this is almost as good. Plus it's a lot more convenient.
The cleaner makes things easier, although I'm not sure that it is a lot better than just brushing the shaver out. At least this way you know that it is getting properly cleaned.
I am very happy with the cheaper version without the extra power indicators. The cleaning/charging unit is too big to travel with, but you can just take the cord with you, and it works with both 110 and 240 volts. I don't really see why you need a charge indicator - most people charge it overnight, and keep it fully charged that way. If you're away from electricity for a long time, chances are, you're somewhere where they don't care a lot about your appearance.
So I am going to stop using a blade, which makes my life a lot better, and I will shave more frequently, which will make my wife's life better. This one really does work.

I started shaving with an electric razor at age 11. That is all I used until I turned 18 and shaved with a blade for six or seven years. I just loved how close a blade got--maybe I used cruddy electrics, or whatever, but I hated dealing with the cleaning, and they never felt very close. But my wife bought me this wonderful gizmo for christmas (maybe it's because I was shaving only every other day dur to skin pain!), and I don't think I will ever go back to blades. After two weeks, I think my face has adapted to the razor, and it shaves 99.5% as close as a blade, but with way less irritation and time expenditure. Now I can shave every day and it doesn't hurt at all!Now, this gizmo is fabulous due to the cleaning stand. It is so simple to use and it really isn't as expensive as some of those people out there want to say it is; you can get 2 refill cartridges at target for like ten bucks, so really, five bucks a month for an always clean razor? Can't beat that!
Now, I know the 7680 has a fancy LCD screen, but why do you need that? You don't. Save the money and get the 7526. It's well worth the money. (Caveat: my wife got mine at BB on humongous sale)

Okay, maybe that's a little overboard, but I cannot believe what a difference a shaver can make. I cannot imagine going back to my old Braun shaver after having used a self-cleaning system. Other electric shaver manuals recommend cleaning the shaver every day, but how many people actually do that? Having a fresh, clean foil against my face every morning feels so much better, especially since a doctor once told me how much bacteria can be transferred to a shaver in just one shave (put it this way, I will never, ever, borrow a friend's shaver again)!To top it off, this shaver gives me closer shaves than even the triple bladed, titanium edged, flexible, pivoting, lubricated, turbo-charged razor that I have. This is especially apparent under my chin, where I have these wierd, sideways growing whiskers that are otherwise impossible to shave close. I kept my super-razor, though, because the trimmer on the Bruan cannot get my sideburns or neck hair as neatly groomed as a razor.
To all disposable Bic users out there, [$$$] is not too much to spend on a shaver, if you personally can afford it. The quality of the shave and the improved hygenics easily make this worth every penny.

First, I generally distrust all electric razors as gimmicks. I had tried the cheapies (and got what I paid for) and a more moderately priced one (and didn't get nearly what I paid for!) and gave up on electrics all together.
Then I got this Braun. My wife had been noticing how badly and how easily I get razor burn from blades. Needless to say, I was noticing too, so I decided to go on Amazon and see what razors had the best ratings, for an acceptable price. I found this Braun and decided to go ahead and try it.
This is a TERRIFIC razor! Now I heard that electrics don't get as close as a blade, but this is just about as good. My beard (which grows every which way but straight) took to the razor very quickly and nobody notices a difference in my shave, which is good because I'm really anal about it. And no razor burn! The only thing I have a hard time getting with it are the whiskers that grows around the bottom of my Adam's Apple. So I keep a simple Bic blade to nick those off. All in all, this is worth the $$. The cleaning system is very nice as well, but I'm most impressed with the actual razor itself. I'll NEVER go back to a blade again!

I bought the Braun 7526 to replace the Braun 7516 that broke after almost 8 yrs of daily use. While the razor doesn't get all the hair on one pass, I've never had trouble getting all the stubble off my face each morning. When it broke, the battery on my 7516 held a charge for about 40-45 minutes of shaving. So I'm expecting the 7526 to be no less inferior.
I clean the razor after every use by releasing the head and pulsing it on & off. Once a week (or sometimes every other week), I use the "clean" function on the base. I don't leave the base plugged in unless I need to use it. This has saved me money on cleaning packs and shaving heads. I do use a pre-shave lotion since my facial hair is thick.
When I go travelling, the travel pouch is great because it will hold the razor, cleaning brush, and charging cord. I also like the automatic voltage detection of the charging cord for my travels to europe and asia.
I had considered trying out a rotary razor such as those from Norelco. In the end, I decided that since the parts and pieces of my old 7516 are fully interchangeable with the new 7526, that I'd stick with the tried and true.
