Customer Reviews of Braun PocketGo P-70 Men's Shaver

Customer Review: Absolute Best Value - Hands Down!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I travel for a living. My son in the U.S. Air force recommended this to me to leave in my suitcase. I have always preferred a "Screen" type razor because it causes much less irritation than a rotary and shaves much closer. I bought my first "PocketGo" Braunfor about 12 dollars at Walgreens. I was amazed at how long the batteries lasted before they ran down. No need to plug it in and recharge, just replace the two AA cells and away you go. I even took it to Italy this summer and saved fooling aroung with the converters and plugs for the 220volt wall sockets. What a great idea. My original PocketGo had a neat little slide out trimmer for those hard to reach areas and hairs you miss that get too long. Too bad someone in engineering threw that out on the P-70 model. A little redeisgn to jake the end square instead of round would have made it work a lot better. This is still the best little electric razor money can buy! $150 for an electric razor??? You HAVE to be kidding.

Customer Review: Sounds like a five star, but I have questions about this product: - looking for guidance
Summary: 5 Stars

1. Do you think this little shaver would do well for very coarse underarm hair?
2. Does the razor pinch or pull as it's shaving? Is it comfortable to use?
3. Would you recommend it for the tender underams of someone new to shaving? (We're into the third or 4th type of blade and cream removals are leaving the skin red and raw.)
4. Its not clear if the AA batteries for the Braun 370 are proprietary or does this product run on ordinary batteries bought in a grocery store?
5. How many times can you shave before the batteries have to be replaced?
6. What's your experience with how sharp the blade stays? How quickly do you have to replace the whole unit/or blade that goes with it?

If anyone can speak to these issues, I'd be most grateful. We are moving overseas without convenience of 110, and must also consider the difficulty of getting batteries. The product use is intended for the very tender underams of a pre-teen.

Customer Review: Good for low budget
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this shaver about a month ago and I am completely satisfied with it. This might only be my second shaver but it was beyond my expectations for a $20 piece of equipment. I had to replace my old one because my roommate broke it and I did a bit of research and figured that within budget this would probably be the best one. I was skeptical about the small trimmer but it turned out to be perfect for trimming my mustache and goatee, and if you just skim it along the hair it does a good job on thinning it out. For the first couple of days it agitated my skin but it got used to it. I wouldn't say that its the best on the market but for a low budget or a first shaver it is satisfactory. One concern that was brought to my attention is that it uses AA batteries that always need to be replaced, well I have had this unit for about a month now and the batteries are still good. And it only uses two AA batteries and at the rate that they discharge its not much of a problem.

Customer Review: Amazing shaver at this price.
Summary: 5 Stars

I am amazed that they can sell this little shaver so inexpensively. I have had mine as my regular shaver for more than three years and it has always been effective and reliable. This morning, while enjoying another great shave I was curious to look on Amazon again and see if perhaps the low price I paid for it was some kind of computer error, as it does as good of a job as shavers costing ten times as much. But no, it is only a couple more dollars today than I paid three years ago and still a great bargain. For best results, you need to keep fresh batteries in it. If I use regular alkaline AA batteries, they will last a week or two. But what I do now is to use rechargeable batteries. I keep one set in the charger and one set in the shaver and switch them every couple of days, so it is always shaving at full power. I highly recommend this shaver for travel or everyday use and at this price you could buy a new one every year!

Customer Review: Lowest Cost Per Shave
Summary: 5 Stars

After trying many types of electric shavers over the years, I decided that the Braun foil system works best with my medium-density facial hair. So...for several years, I used a Braun 2000 ($25) and replaced the head and screen a couple of times ($25 each time). More recently, I bought a Braun 370 ($10) for travel. With freshly-charged NiMH batteries, the little 370 did such a good job that it made me doubt the wisdom of replacing heads and screens. Roll the clock forward. When my trusty Braun 2000 finally died a few days ago...and when I recovered from the sticker shock of what a new full-featured Braun is selling for...I promptly ordered three more Braun 370s from Amazon at $13 each. You can do the math as well as me (laugh). Given that my current Braun 370 is still going strong, I'm confident that this will keep me clean shaved for several years to come for far less than the cost of a full-featured shaver and replacement parts.
