I had reviewed the Braun shaver on Consumer Reports, and then investigated any online reviews. I have been very pleased with the performance. I have a rough beard that grows very quickly. Basically, I usually have a 5:00 shadow by noon. This shaver gives me a smooth comfortable feel, with a close shave that lasts me the entire day.
One of the concerns I had read in other purchasers' reviews was the frequency and cost of the cleaning component. I am more than happy with that function, in that I think preventative maintenance is a necessity with most things.
I must admit, though, that I am only pressing the button to initiate the cleaning function in the middle of the week and on Sundays. My process is that I clear out the shavings before placing the shaver back in the base unit. Then, regardless of when the base unit's indicator says it needs an intensive cleaning, I am only doing it twice a week.
I am in my 40's and this is probably the 4th electric shaver I have had in all of this time. I am very pleased with it.
Customer Review: The closest you'll get to a blade

I've been through quite a few razors over the years, and went to a blade for two or three. I've also owned several earlier versions from Braun. This is by far the best electric razor I've owned. I can't say that it is blade close, but is not off by much. This has more power than my last Braun, runs quieter, and cuts through two to three days of growth easily. I had to make several passes with my previous razor due to my heavy beard. This unit cuts the time in half. The shave is comfortable, and the cleaning/charging unit works great. Though the included paperwork says to run a cleaning cycle after every use, I've been doing fine with every three to four day cleaning. I've used it several days in a row without recharging with no noticeable decrease in battery power. Battery power, cleaning reminder, and length of time of your last shave are displayed on the LCD screen which is easy to read. Looks great, though it does take up a bit of space on the bathroom counter. Not cheap, but definitely delivers.Customer Review: Impressive Shave

When my old Braun expired after 5 years (batteries) I decided to opt for the 8995 360. This unit arrived promptly and was packaged well. Little chance of any shipping damage. The shaver had a nice feel in the hand and was balanced well. It was slightly heavier than my old unit. It comes with a protective hard case for travel.
WOW! Shaving technology has made huge strides in the last 5 years. This shaver makes my face feel as soft as a baby's behind. Fast, clean and smooth, even the toughest parts of my face and neck shaved cleanly and with much less time than my older Braun. This is the best shave I have ever had.
I also like the fact that the shaver gets immaculately cleaned after every use. The shaver is in like new cleanliness after the cleaning cycle.
I expect to get a month of cleaning on a cartridge of cleaner but It has only been a couple of weeks since I started using it and so far it still reads full.
I'm delighted with this product.
Customer Review: Made the switch from the Mach3 to the 360

I had been a Gillet Mach3 user for years, as well as just using a safty raser before that. I was tired of getting cuts almost every day with the Mach3 and other various rasers. Because of this, I was ready to make the move to using an electric shaver.
I decided to purchase the 360, because it had the best reviews out of all the electric shavers.
For the first 10-14 days of shaving, I was getting little nic's and cuts with this raser, along with some after effects of raser burn. But that was also because my face had been used to using a safty raser for 16+ years, and my face was not used to an electric shaver. Overall it took about 15 days for my face to get used to the 360.
Now 6 weeks later I am glad I made the switch. I have not had a nic or a cut in 4 weeks, and my face feels much better after shaving. I would highly recommend this electric raser as long as you have the patience for your face to get used to shaving with it.

I previously had a Braun 7000 series shaver for 4 years and it gave a great shave! I still keep it for travel. The 8000 series 360 is just as good. While I can't tell much difference in shave quality between the two, I like the 360's cleaning system better - the low cleaning soution indicator and auto cleaning cycle selector are a slight improvement over the 7000 series. I also like the fact that they both use the same cleaning cartridges. I had to have a new motor put into my 7000 series Braun after 4 years - I wore it out! Not the motor actually, but the edges of the frame at the sides of the cutting foil where it rubs on your face as you shave. I actually wore holes through the naterial from all of the shaving I did! The motor itself was still working. But I found that the repair costs were very reasonable at a local shaver repair facility and the shaver is once again like new. I expect the 360 to be just as good on reliability and quality. I highly recommend it.
