We bought this for my husband's plantar fasciitis and it has helped a lot. The splint is more substantial than other products and that is needed in order to keep the foot in the proper position. He tried another sock-like product which was not adequate for him. The only improvement which should be made is something noted by other reviewers. The hook strip which holds the straps together is not strong enough. I bought some Scotch Multi-Purpose Fasteners (like Velcro) because it came in 3" x 2" patches and then I machine stitched it over the existing strip. I did this with all three closures but it was the middle strap which would come undone. My husband thinks it is a great improvement. The straps no longer come loose. If he takes the splint off in the night, he has no trouble reclosing it since there is more "grabbing" area. I highly recommend the product.
