Customer Review: The one supplement no household should be without
Summary: 5 Stars

The necessity of adding Omega 3 oil to a person's diet is now indisputable from clinical studies to the popular Dr. Oz Show. Books like The Depression Cure, discuss the explosion in anti-depression prescriptions doled out, as closely related to the imbalance of fatty acids our brains need due to the heavy bias towards grains and grain feeds that fatten livestock we consume and which glut our diet with Omega 6 acids. Omega 3's come from the green, chlorophyll containing parts of plants and algae and so on up the food chain. As children, our parents plied us with Cod Liver Oil with the promise of a maraschino cherry after the horrible teaspoon of fish oil. But with the planet's waters polluted with heavy metals and pesticides that especially concentrate in the liver of animals including fish, a catch-22 is created. In searching for a safe product I read the reports of ConsumerLab dot com and Carlson was rated the highest in purity and quality. Their fish source is the deep cold water fjords of Norway that contain minimal pollutants. One of the nicest surprises is that the lemon taste is actually not bad at all! At the time of this writing, Vitamin Shoppe has it listed at half the price of their stores and is the listed supplier for Amazon at least today. This is not an inexpensive product when not on sale, but I have paid full price in the past and still have felt very satisfied. Highly recommended especially at this bargain price!

Customer Review: The Very Finest
Summary: 5 Stars

Normal fish oil pills contain 18% EPA and 12% DHA. DHA is the important part. So I did a DHA per dollar analysis of a lot of different fish oil pills, and the best one had a 719 DHA/$ ratio (though this didn't have your standard 18/12 split; it has a 12/28 EPA/DHA split). However, when I started entertaining the idea of a liquid fish oil, I was very surprised to see a 2159 DHA/$ ratio. Like 3x more efficiency. That's huge, obviously. For comparison, the best performing 18/12 pill on Amazon only has a 302 DHA/$ ratio. The fish oil is 7 times more efficient/cheaper than the pills. To put it in perspective, to get the same amount of DHA as I get in this product from a standard 18/12 pill, I would need to spend about $160.

When this fish oil arrived, I was kind of expecting it to be a little nasty, but it wasn't at all. It had a kind of pleasant, subdued lemon scent. I had some strait and it was fine (if a little oily =p), and then added some to a blended drink psyllium fiber drink this morning. While I imagine it bound the drink together a little better, it also yielded a mild lemon flavor to it I found pleasing. I think it may even be good incorporated into a salad dressing.

If you're open to the idea of a liquid fish oil, I think this one is great. It's a very cost effective means to get your daily DHA.

Customer Review: Easy on the palette
Summary: 5 Stars

I'll make this quick. I'm not a chemist and can't confirm the contents of this fish oil but I've read some health articles and they claimed this was the best available. What I can comment on is it's taste. I don't know what they do but it doesn't taste fishy at all. It's actually quite pleasant. The lemon is nice and subtle and the fish aftertaste is unnoticeable. My three year old tried it and he said "Mmmm strawberry". I laughed but at least he noticed the flavor was from a fruit. I think you'd really have to hate fish with a passion to dislike the taste of this fish oil.
One other point. Per serving size the EPA and DHA is twice as high as the gel tablets I was taking. Keep that in mind when looking at the price and value.

Customer Review: Didn't think I could take the oil straight, but this I can do.
Summary: 5 Stars

I never thought I could take a tablespoon full of fish oil, but the Carlson has surprised me. It has a lemon-flavor, and that is all you can taste. No fish taste at all. The feel and texture of the oil part can be a little bad for me, so I just make sure that I don't get it on the lips. Other than that, no problem.

The concentration of DHA and EPA Omega 3's is excellent, and is a much easier way than taking multiple gel caps. However, if convenience is an issue and I am away from home, I will substitute with Renew Life - Fish Smart Ultra, 90 softgels.

Customer Review: good for hair
Summary: 5 Stars

In my pursuit, as a woman, to find the right combination of products to promote hair growth, I discovered that taking enough of a good quality fish oil supplement actually works! I tried other brands and they just didn't work!
Please understand that fish oil does not "make" your hair grow, but supplies enough nutrients so that you can regrow lost hair. With me, I feel that my nutritional status has decreased over the years causing my hair to thin. My diet is very good, but age still is a factor in my ability to utilize the food I eat.
This supplement helps to fill in any inadequacy.

Good luck!
