I dont go to get my hair done often but the last time I did the stylist used this on my hair and I got hooked. I use the shampoo, conditioner and silk infusion to guarantee that my hair will be soft and straight after I put a flat iron to it. I bought the little 2oz. size at my local beauty store to try this product that so many have raved about. I'm Asian with recently straight permed hair, and I wanted a good leave-in treatment/heat protectant for my daily styling.
At first look, CHI has the consistency and color of a thick oil. I liked it because the wetness of damp hair helped just a pea-sized amount of CHI spread easily throughout my whole head of hair. The smell right out of the bottle was definitely a minus. It smelled of men's cologne, as many have said, but as long as the smell didn't linger, I didn't care. After trying the CHI for a few days, I have to say it did make my hair softer. It didn't make my hair super shiny, but it seemed to make a good difference in my hair.
One day, I dispensed the CHI too carefully and thought I didn't get enough in my hair, so I used two pea-sized amounts. My hair didn't look greasy like it had too much, so I thought it was fine. But I could smell the awful odor of the CHI even after I was done styling. I couldn't wash it off my hands, and the whole day I could smell the horrible men's cologne scent. It gave me a migraine that lasted into the next day until I washed my hair again! So I figure it was the CHI fragrance chemicals.
I suppose if you always be VERY careful how much you use, this product could work for you. But for me, the smell was a deal breaker. I'd rather use FHI heat hot sauce. It uses much more natural ingredients and actually has a pleasant feminine scent.

I tried this product a few times before I wrote this review. My hair is long, thick, wavy, coarse, and a bit on the dry side. It gets frizzy in humid weather, but otherwise, it is soft and shiny. First, this product did nothing for the frizzies. Second, it did change the texture of my hair, but I don't like the change. It makes my hair look kinda fuzzy and flyaway. It feels lighter and soft, but not silky. It's hard to explain. It's like my hair looks full, but it feels thin. Bottom line, I don't like this product and will not buy it again. It may work for your hair, but I don't like it for mine. I actually prefer my drugstore styling gel.Customer Review: Will never compete with Biosilk Silk Therapy Hair Serum

If you look at the ingredients is is so very very close, but the color and smell makes all the difference. I am white and my hair is a mix of gold red and brown it is and long; I have used Biosilk for almost 15 years and I LOVE IT!!Brings color back to my hair! I was given three bottels of this stuff and tried it out. The smell... NOT for me! and it made me head itch like crazy it drove me nuts all day! as soon as I got home I washed it out. And it had left my hair greesy, BioSilk has never ever ever done that.
