I'm a long-time Tide loyalist, but when I started cloth diapering my baby, we had smell issues with the Tide Free detergent I was using. I read a lot of rave reviews of Charlie's Soap and was skeptical, but I finally decided to give it a try. (After all, it was cheaper than what I was using.) The first load of cloth diapers made a believer out of me. The 1 TB they recommend removed all the stink and did a far better job with stains than Tide ever had.
No two ways about it: this stuff is awesome. This is one area where going to a natural product requires no sacrifice. Your clothes will be cleaner, and you won't have to worry about dyes and chemicals. I highly recommend this product.

Thrilled with Charlie's Soap! I use cloth diapers and it works just as well to get them clean/fresh as it does on our regular clothing. I called the 800 number to find out what type of disinfectent to use with it, since it does'nt contain any and it really is a must with cloth diapers; they spent about a half hour (happily) on the phone with me discussing what is compatible with Charlies. I found an oxygen cleaner that ONLY contains sodium carbonate and sodium percarbonate (Sun Oxygen Cleaner---found at Walmart for under $2), which is safe to use with Charlies, unlike Oxiclean. I also use regular old washing soda as a laundry booster with the Charlies. Very happy with this product!Customer Review: Great for clothes and cloth diapers

This soap has been a life saver for washing cloth diapers. Following the directions given on their website and included with the product, this soap has taken out all of the residual smell from the diapers. They look brand new again. My daughter has had no adverse reactions to the soap (as indicated in other reviews). I have also started using this for all of our other laundry. Our clothes, towels, sheets, etc. feel better than ever and everyone in the family is happy with the results. I love the small packaging as it is easy to store (vs. the large plastic tubs I was buying before!). Overall a great, healthy product for your family that works wonders on clothes and cloth diapers.Customer Review: Great product!

I didn't know what to expect when I first ordered Charlie's Soap Powder, but the fact that it claimed to rinse out of fabric completely gave me the impression that it would be a great soap to wash my baby's cloth diapers with. What a great product! It cleans both my pre-folds and my AIOs and leaves them smelling fresh. I love the smell of Tide, but Charlie's cleans without leaving a residue. After using Charlie's Soap routinely, I once used a Free & Clear detergent on my pre-folds, and they came out so stiff and rough. I'll never do that again! Charlie's Soap cleans well and rinses out completely, leaving my clothes and cloth diapers super soft! And you can't beat the price.Customer Review: works well for us!

This is the detergent I keep coming back to for cloth diapers. Plain and simple, it works well for us. Though price does seem to fluctuate on Amazon, it's typically a great deal when it comes to cost per load. Eczema and sensitive skin run in the family and we've had no issues.
I've heard of some rare sensitivity issues, particularly if you are first washing things that have been washed in other detergents. I know someone who had to stop using it when they moved somewhere with hard water because it didn't work as well. But if I'm giving it a rating based on how it's worked for me - 5 stars! Particularly for cloth diapers, it's the only one I plan to use.
