Customer Reviews of Charlie's Soap Powder - 2.64 lb (80 Loads)Customer Review: On my third bag...Loving it! Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased Charlie's Soap Powder because I have two grandbabies on the way and thought I'd wash our baby blankets and such with Charlie's. I also have two little guys with sensitive skin of my own who I thought may benefit from this soap.
After receiving the bag I did as instructed and ran a load to clean the washer. After doing this I did not want to ruin that cleaning by using my old detergent, so I've used Charlie's exclusively for about 40 loads.
I did have to purchase some stain remover spray to tackle tough stains (which were left over by my old detergent) such as grass and dirty knees in my little ones jeans (All of these stains have finally been removed!). I must say, Charlie's soap powder works just as well as (or better than) Tide. The scent (of clean) is actually more pleasant than that of other "main stream" flowery scented detergents.
My clothes seem "puffier" and softer. Colors are actually quite vivid now. I actually gave the old detergent away, I'm so happy with the Charlie's that I don't think I'll ever go back the old detergent!
I highly recommend this product for all your washing!
Addition: I am now on my third bag. I actually bought a box of tide which was ridiculously cheap one day and regretted it! I've decided to never use another product for laundry but Charlie's.
Customer Review: Absolutely Fabulous Summary: 5 Stars
I'm slowly moving into green territory with a new Danby twin tub washer that I'm line drying clothing with (love tailoring my wash cycles and the spinner helps dry the clothes a lot faster). After the glowing reviews on Charlie's Soap Powder I had to give it a try and am now a convert. This is an awesome product! I can use it in cold water and it even got some old stains out. I have also used Method Peony Blossom laundry detergent which is a nice product and smells lovely but Charlie's gets the clothes cleaner, hands down. I'm not feeling any residue and my laundry still smells great as is. It's clean and soft. That just blew me away.
One small thing I've noticed. Now that I'm wearing clothes that aren't saturated in scent I feel that I've become more sensitive, if that makes any sense. Not that I was wearing a dryer sheet like a Monty Python head-hanky, but shopping through the laundry aisle usually left me with a clogged nose and a headache. They smell even stronger to me now. Amazing what we get used to.
I'm buying the bucket of soap powder next for my old washer/dryer unit upstairs. Now my over-sized items will be just as fresh and I won't miss throwing out all those big, plastic landfill cloggers. A product that's eco-efficient, concentrated to a spoonful a load and saves me money. What's not to like?
Cheers!
Customer Review: For cloth diapers and beyond Summary: 5 Stars
If you are familiar with cloth diapers, you know that there is a great debate about what detergents are best to use while washing diapers. There are lots of detergents about there. Some are better than others; some can actually harm your diapers. There are also certain types of diapers, like pockets, that are more sensitive to detergent build-up. I was led to Charlie's because I wanted something that was extremely clean-rinsing. Ultimately Charlie's did not disappoint. We began buying Charlie's for our diapers over 3 years ago and eventually switched to using it for our entire family's laundry.
Before we switched to Charlie's, we struggled with build-up in our diapers. From time to time I had to "strip" them, which is a tedious process that uses a lot of water. Because Charlie's is so clean-rinsing, I have NEVER had to strip my diapers since switching. And again, that is after several years of using it as we are on our second cloth-diapered child now. I like that the packaging is minimal and I only have to re-order a few times a year. When you price out the cost per load, it is very competitive with other commercially-available detergents. Before I switched I thought I was getting a deal buying another brand with coupons, but really we went through the other brand much more quickly. I have found Charlie's to be very good for our budget.
Customer Review: Fantastic Product Summary: 5 Stars
I cannot say enough about this product (and all the other Charlie's cleaning products.
My husband is head of maintenance for a hotel, and let me tell you, he gets so filthy and he is also diabetic so he has a distinctive "moldy" smell when he sweats. I have yet to find a detergent that completely rids the odors, especially during the summer. The closest I can find is Purex powder with Renuizit Odor Eliminator, with adding Borax to the load as well. Forget about using all natural products (I've tried several plant based detergents, with no luck).
In comes Charlie's Soap. One tablespoon (no added Borax, Oxyclean, nothing) is all the directions called for, and it totally worked. I didn't even follow the directions of cleaning the washing machine with Charlie's first, and his clothes came out completely odor free. Not only were they soooo clean, but they aren't kidding when they say fabric softener is not needed. His clothes are sooo soft.
Here's the really important part. His clothes had been worn during a massive heatwave of 105 degrees (and very humid) all week. He put his clothing in his hamper, then joined us on vacation; so his clothing sat, smooshed together, in awful heat, for 5 days before I washed them!!!! If that is not a test to how well this product works, I don't know what is...
Customer Review: great, but gave rash***EDIT*** DD is RASHFREE!! Summary: 5 Stars
i would love to give this detegent 5 stars for thoroughly cleaning my daughters cloth diapers (both fuzzi bunz and also bumgenius) but after about 3 weeks worth of laundry, my daughter developed a SERIOUS rash...i had to wait it out using disposables (non-chlorine)...it finally went away and i switched detergents...it hasnt come back yet. i mayy try charlies once more to see if in fact the rash was definitly related to it...but she is exclusively bf and is only 2 months, so no food or formula to factor it. lets see..i'll update in about a month if i can remmeber :)
So it has been over a month since i posted this review, sure enough i forgot to update. i put dd in disposables to get rid of the rash (which wasnt a great idea, because her behind needed to air out to get rid of the rash), anyhow, once she was COMPLETELY rash-free, i decided to give charlie another go! she has been fine ever since, and i have been using it on all her clothes with great results. I really find this product gets diapers clean (along with a tad bit oxi each time). There are no stinks in my microfiber, no stains on the fleece, and the colors are still lovely and bright! there's no smell of roses or spring linen, but , hey, if you wanna smell roses, go pick some!
