Customer Review: sensitive skin and we LOVE charlies.

We started using Charlies because its cloth diaper safe. I will NEVER go back to regular detergent. All three of us have sensitive skin and most regular detergents cause us to break out. Not with charlies. We used to only be able to use ALL free and clear, but it does get a little spendy comparatively. I wash a TON of laundry, and Charlies is a real value as well. Three times a year I buy two big tubs and it lasts me through multiple loads a day. (the cloth diaper loads I only use 1/4 tbs though)
It didn't work fabulous on formula stains in the first few months of baby spit up, til I learned if something got a stained that set, to soak it overnight in some charlies in cold water. Now everything gets clean. And you can just dump the soak water in the wash and reuse it.
We also have a french drain to our backyard, so all our washing machine suds dump into our yard (we have a big area out in the country) Even with all the suds and occasional bleach loads, the grass and vegetation is still healthy. I am not a green kinda gal, but figured that might matter to some of you Amazonians :)
We also find it rinses clean and our washing machine has never developed an odor or anything like that. I used to have to clean it with vinegar every few months, now I do not.

Charlie's Soap Powder is simply the best laundry soap ever. You use just a tiny bit, so it is very economical, the powder dissolves readily, so you don't have to pay all of the extra shipping for a product that contains a lot of water. It rinses absolutely clean so there are no residues, no rashes, no allergic reactions on sensitive skin... I have always gotten rashes from laundry soap, but not with Charlie's soap. My baby's cloth diapered little butt is absolutely pristine.
Also, Charlie's soap REALLY works, unlike some environmentally-friendly soaps, it really gets your clothes and cloth diapers clean clean clean! And, it doesn't strip color like one environmentally-friendly all-natural laundry soap I have tried. It gets my husband's work clothes clean, it gets the diapers clean, and it gets the dishrags clean. Charlie's soap is simply the best, and the most economical of any all-natural hypoallergenic laundry product I have ever tried. (And with my sensitive skin, I have tried a lot of them!) When we got a new washer that requires HE detergent, I searched Amazon and came across Charlie's Soap. The reviews were good, so I thought I'd give it a try. Wow! This stuff is the best laundry detergent I have ever used.
We use a tablespoon or less (depending on the size of the load) and it gets our clothes cleaner than gobs of the the liquid detergent in the old washer using gallons of water. I tried Charlie's on some shirts with dried kitchen stains that that I was about to give-up on. They would not come clean despite previous washings. Charlie's cleaned the stains in one regular washing cycle.
I personally like that is it not loaded with fragrance, and that it cleans so well without lots of suds (which are bad for our new front-loading washer). The fact that it is more environmentally friendly than standard detergents is a big bonus too.
I just bought two more bags (free ship with Amazon Prime)- one for us and one for my college-bound daughter who loves the product and would rather carry the small Charlie's Soap bag to the dorm laundry than a big heavy bottle of detergent.
Charlie's is one of the rare things I have come across lately that actually works as advertised. Highly recommended!

I must admit that when my husband and I decided to cloth diaper, we never realized the total revolution that decision would have on our household. I was a little overwhelmed thinking about purchasing new laundry detergent, pail liners, diaper covers, snappis, etc., etc., etc. Anyway, after reading some rave reviews, we decided to give Charlie's a whirl. WHAT A GREAT DECISION! We use it for all of our clothes (which I think is probably the best way to do it so you aren't constantly worrying about the additives/enzymes from the other detergents you might use). I love that fresh smell, and I love the additional storage space in our laundry room (no more huge, bulky detergent bottles). The other wonderful thing about Charlie's is their EXCELLENT customer service representatives. I had a few initial questions and I placed a call to a rep. We chatted for about 20 minutes, and he gave me LOTS of helpful suggestions about making the switch to Charlie's, as well as other ideas for stain-treating, cloth-diaper cleaning and more. The company stands behind their products 100% and that's wonderful. Make the switch--- and give it a whirl. (You can't see the benefits after 1 or 2 wash cycles, so stick with it... you'll be happy you did!)Customer Review: A Surprise Benefit of This Soap

I have found the same benefits and quality as previous reviewers--with one additional find. I often end up with a washed load of clothes being left overnight in the washer. (This is because I have this ridiculous amount of laundry out of 2 bathrooms and 2 sons at home--and I always think I will still be up to move the load to the dryer but---not. But,I digress) Normally those "already washed" loads smell so awful by the next morning, that I MUST rewash the load. Now, all that with using expensive commercial soaps, not bargain stuff. Also, this is happening with the more natural type soaps carried at Sam's Club and Costco. The first time this happened with a load washed in this Charlie's Soap Powder, there was NO and I mean NO souring of the load overnight! I sniffed and sniffed and sniffed in disbelief, because sour laundry is so gross and I wasn't going to let any of it get past me! Everything smelled so fresh, as if I had just done the load an hour ago. This is its consistent performance. There is no fragrance,just a wonderful clean smell. The only negative--it is NOT a stain remover. Stains remain, so pretreat those. I too use 1 1/2 to 2 scoops in my large capacity washer, as some others are doing.
