This detergent actually did far better than I was hoping for. I don't think I will ever use another detergent. Its stain fighting ability is good, most of the stains that go into the wash are gone once the clothes come out of the wash. Its odor neutralizing ability is by far Charlie's Soap's best aspect. I used to do my husband's clothes separate because of the "man smell" but now his clothes can go in with mine and they all come out smelling equally clean! :) You need much less fabric softener as well, and this coming from a fabric softener junkie! I don't feel the need to buy any other detergent, flashy labels in the store with new scents and formulas will no longer tempt me, I just want the good old fashioned natural clean of Charlie's Soap!Customer Review: Very Pleased - Feeling Healthier all Ready

I've been using Charlie's for about 7 months now, through our very humid VA summer and am very pleased. Honestly, I see no cleaning power difference between this and commercial detergents. I've disolved a little powder in water and used a brush on stains and potential stains and had very good results. Just this week, scrubbed a jacket that my daughter spilled hot chocolate on. There were no stains left after washing. The only difference I've found is that there's no perfume smell after the clothes are washed. That takes some getting used to but makes me wonder why we have to have our clothes smell like perfume rather than just be clean. I have no plans on changing detergent and am ready to begin recommending this to my family and friends.Customer Review: Best laundry soap ever!

My husband installs solar thermal (hot water) systems and is constantly getting unknown crud on his clothes from being in attics, cellars, etc. He only wears Carhartts and cotton tees to work and they have never come clean. His pants and socks were never soft. I used Charlie's on his work clothes and it not only got out new stains, it got out old stains and softened his once crunchy socks and Carhartts! I used it on my clothes (which are not super dirty) and our sheets and towels. Everything came out clean and super soft, I am so impressed. It is unscented so I used fabric softener for the scent, it is not necessary for softening. I will be a lifelong Charlie's laundry soap user and recommend it heartily.Customer Review: Unbelievable!

I was using for the longest time (5 years) a detergent that claimed it was free of fragrances and dyes. I don't know if the product changed (I did start to notice a chemical smell) but my skin was starting to itch. I tried other products that claimed to be "fragrance free" but no luck. After long hours of research on the web, I came across Charlie's Soap. I was skeptical at first, because I tried almost every product out there. But believe me, it works! After a couple washes, the chemical smell that was built up on my clothing was gone. Bottom Line: Charlies's Soap makes my laundry come out very clean, minus the fragrance.
I am so happy this product exists and I highly recommend it!

I've only used this powder for my laundry once, so I can't really tell how good it is. From this one-time experience I find it to be a lot more gentle to the fabric than many other detergents. It doesn't have the strongest smell; it's a very light natural aroma. In term of cleaning, I can't rate it, since my clothes are not heavy dirty; they only have that normal sweat from daily use. One other thing: if you really wanna make it last for 80 loads, you really gotta limit yourself to one tablespoon per load (I personally prefer to use 2 to 3 tablespoons for my full loads). I'll probably be buying this powder again since it's reasonably cheap and more environmentally friend than most of the other ones.
