Chia seeds are low on the glycemic index (1), are anti-inlfammatory, are high in dietary fiber, and have a complete amino acid profile. All of these factors contribute to a healthy addition to any diet. Historically, they were used by Native Americans warriors when they would go hunting or to war. They take a bit of getting used to - the look and texture are different than almost anything else we eat, but because the flavor is much like the water you add to it, it's not hard to like them. My children ask for them consistently, and I love them for the fiber and protein, especially. Look up chia seeds on nutritiondata.com for more information. I have not tried any other type of chia seeds than this product found on Amazon, but I have been very satisfied with this product, it's packaging, the shipping, and the directions on how to prepare the seed. Highly recommended! One tip: keep the dry chia seed in a glass jar in the freezer until ready to use.
