Customer Reviews of Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor (Packaging May Vary)

Customer Review: Amazing
Summary: 5 Stars

After 12 years of trying to conceive naturally, my husband and I conceived this past July only to miscarry at 6 weeks. We were devastated. I was referred to the ClearBlue Easy Fertility Monitor by a co-worker - she said "it's a little pricey, but I got pregnant my second month of monitoring". So I went online and researched. I was impressed by what I found so I decided to go ahead and dish out the cash since Dr. visits and possibly fertility treatments were going to cost us much more than a couple hundred dollars.

We waited the Dr. recommended 2 full cycles after our miscarriage and began using the monitor November 5, 2007. I was getting pretty antsy around days 12 & 13 because the monitor hadn't moved off of low fertility. But, come day 14 it jumped to peak fertility (egg & all)! So we made good use of days 14 and 15.

Because I couldn't bring myself to believe that this little gadget could really tell me when to try to conceive, much less read my fertility spot-on the first month, I had talked myself into believing the machine was manufactured to read peak fertility for everyone at standard mid-cycle, but then my body started acting differently. 10 days later, I was experiencing mild nausea.

November 30, day 25 of my cycle and my 32nd birthday, I took a pregancy test. I knew full well it was super-early to be testing and that I may not receive the result I was hoping for. Much to my disbelief, the test read positive! I've since administered 4 more pregnancy tests, all yielding the same result.

I am truly amazed at the accuracy of the ClearBlue Fertility Monitor. It was so well-worth the money and I plan to use it for our second child, after by God's grace, we get through this pregnancy with a healthy baby.

Customer Review: Really works to nail down your cycle
Summary: 5 Stars

My husband and I had been trying to get pregnant for about 5 months with no success. Since I'm 35, I was reaching the 6-month limit where they tell you to see a specialist. I figured that this was worth a shot first, and if nothing happened after 3 cycles of using it, we'd go to the doc. The monitor is easy to use as long as you read the full set of instructions. I got a "high" on day 13, but I didn't actually take this very seriously. First, all the OPK's I had ever used said I ovulated around day 21-22, and second, the monitor instructions tell you that you may get a lot of high days in the first month of use. It just happened that we BD'd on that day. After that, I got 2 more high days, which I continued to ignore. To my surprise, I got "peak" readings on day 16-17, way earlier than the OPK's had ever shown me. In fact, I typically didn't start using the OPK's before day 17 since I never got a positive until day 21 or later. So we BD'd on those 2 days, and just today the doctor confirmed that I am about 4.5 weeks pregnant! We also used Pre-seed for the first time this month, so that may have helped too. However, without the monitor, I would never have known I ovulated as early as I did. Clearly, the monitor was correct and all the OPK's I had used in months past were not.

The monitor isn't a guarantee for getting pregnant, but it will accurately show you what is happening with your cycle. For me, that was worth the cost in purchasing it, although I did feel it was a bit expensive. But when you compare it to the cost of multiple doctor visits, fertility testing, IVF's, etc, it's not that much. It's worth a shot if you're healthy and have not conceived after a few months of trying. Good luck!!

Customer Review: AMAZING...Worked Twice!
Summary: 5 Stars

This thing is 2 for 2! After using it for one month I conceived and had a baby boy. When my friend wanted to get pregnant she borrowed it (even though the directions said not to share) and used it for one cycle. She is now in her second trimester.

I feared I wasn't ovulating because I have PCOS, so we sprung for the Clear Blue Easy Fertility Monitor. I'm so glad we did. I followed the directions and used it for just one cycle. Though it says it will do three levels showing the hormone changes for me it just went from low to peak fertility. My OB said that if it moved it all it showed I ovulated. I actually found out I was pregnant at the OB's office trying to adjust my prescription for Metformin (a PCOS medication.) What a joyous day! Because I had recently miscarried I was put on medications to help maintain the pregnancy. Because we had used the monitor it was easy to track when I'd conceived. My irregular periods made this harder to know prior.

I had read reviews before buying it that it wouldn't work for women with PCOS. This was not the case for me. We are so happy with our sweet baby and are so thankful this is the only step we had to take in terms of fertility treatments. It is expensive compared to the disposable sticks, but so much easier to use and causes less anxiety. The month I used it (and conceived) I double checked with some disposable ones and found them very hard to read. If you have irregular periods, are questioning whether you are ovulating, or if you are just ready to get pregnant again (like my friend) this is a sure fire way!

We will absolutely use it again...when we're for sure ready for another one.

Customer Review: The Clearblue easy fertility monitor is easy to use!
Summary: 5 Stars

We're 4 weeks and 3 days pregnant! :o) after two months of using the fertility monitor.

The Clearblue easy fertility monitor is easy to use. It has a 6 hour window for testing, so if I press the "m" at 7am. I have a chance to test between 4AM to 10AM, which works for me. I use the dip the stick in the cup for 15 seconds method. I was only required to use 10 sticks at a time per ovulation cycle. But, because of the holiday stress, travel and being sick in December I had to use 20 sticks. My ovulation was delayed. This monitor helped me to relax and feel a little bit in control of an uncontrollable situation. I found out that I am ovulating. We've been trying to conceive for 10 months naturally. In November I ovulated on the 14th-15th day and in December I ovulated 10 days late. I wouldn't have known without the monitor. I thought I broke the machine when it didn't register peak fertility for an extra 10 days. I tried the BBT method, that was not for me. I never woke up at the same time, I slept with my mouth open or I'd forget to track a day or two. I wish I would have known about this monitor from the beginning. I highly recommend this product, not because it guarantees conception (because it DOES NOT), but for a peace of mind and as a useful tool in detecting ovulation. I'll use the monitor again when we try for # 2 later. My friend is buying one for her aunt, who also has been trying to conceive for almost a year.

The only negative is the cost. It is expensive, $200 for the machine and $50 for a test pack of 30 sticks. The 30 sticks is supposed to last three months, unless you have a long cycle or a delayed one like I did.

Customer Review: Works very well
Summary: 5 Stars

My wife and I purchased this monitor due to her irregular periods. Her menstrual cycle would occur approximately every 3 months or so, which made it very difficult to know when she was ovulating. We had been trying to conceive for a year and were planning on scheduling a fertility appointment until we had decided to give the monitor a try. We figured the monitor would be less than a fertility workup and we could use it on future planned pregnancies as well.

Long story short, this monitor never showed an ovulation cycle, which is what we were scared of. My wife basically was not ovulating, and this was confirmed by our family doctor. Our doctor was thankfully familiar with prescribing Clomid, which is now generic and less than $10 a prescription. Clomid works by blocking the estrogen negative feedback loop to the pituitary gland, causing increased FSH and LH hormone secretion, leading to more ovarian follicles and their rupture, which equals ovulation! While taking Clomid the monitor accurately showed increases in hormone levels up to the point of showing us when she was ovulating. Within 2 months of regular ovulation cycles, and the monitor tracking and confirming them perfectly, we conceived. My wife is currently 19 weeks pregnant and due in December.

This monitor was very helpful in us figuring out why we weren't getting pregnant and even more helpful in tracking whether or not Clomid was doing its job. Though it is a little pricey, as well as the replacement sticks, I believe that the purchase is well worth it. Especially if you have irregular menstrual cycles and would like to confirm whether you are ovulating or not.
