Customer Reviews of Comfort Line Products Spa-N-A-Box Portable Spa

Customer Review: Spa-N-A-Box... so far, so good
Summary: 5 Stars

First let me say, I really enjoy the spa, have used it 3 or 4 times in less than a week. There were 3 people in it for the first use, one is about 6'3" and we had plenty of room. For my purposes, four people will probably be the maximum number. The 3 of us were in it for an hour and the temp went down about 5 degrees, but we didn't mind. It's easy to set up, but I am still perfecting adding the right chemicals. This review is really long as the end of it is a couple of emails I sent to friends after I received the spa, but before using it. Hopefully, you'll learn something from them.

Some things I have learned:
- The cord is 8 feet long, but really only about 7 because part of it is under the pump.
- After you put about an inch or two of water in it, put the cover on to make sure you have the frame set in the perfect shape and can close the connections.
- One person can easily set this up, though having two people would make it easier.
- The O-Ring goes on the END of the connection (kind of inside it).
- When the jets are on, and you are in the spa, it doesn't sound much louder than any other hot tub. We didn't have any problems talking while in it.
- Comfort Line customer service is open M-F and closes at 4:30 CST. They responded to an email within 1 business day.

_________

It came in on Thursday while I was home for lunch. It takes about 24 hours to heat up, so while I was home I started putting it together, which is pretty easy. However, the cord is 8 feet long and you can not use an extension cord, so it took me some time to get it in a place where the pump would reach my outside outlet. I had to move the table and grill, and it¡¦s not where I want it, but would do until I decided to have an electrician come out in a few months.
So after work, I finish setting it up, and fill it with water. It is kind of sprinkling out and I am leaving for a concert around 6:00. Find out that my outside outlet is not going to work because it is set too far into the wall. So, just to see if everything is working, take the frame off my kitchen window so that the screen can be removed. By this time a friend is here, she came over early to help. So we get the cord through my kitchen window which really did not want to open. Plug it in, the pump for the jet works, but I can not get the circulation to work (heats the water). We have to get ready to leave for the concert; window will not close without using a rubber hammer...
Get the window closed, cover put on the spa...well, almost, cannot close two of the connections, but good enough... CONCERT was Really Good.
So Friday, I call my electrician and leave a message for him. He does not call back, so I call another company. They said they will call on Monday to give a quote. In the meantime, I try to call the company to figure out the circulation thing. They are already closed for the day. Oh, and I realize it is leaking by one of the connections cause I cannot quite figure out where the ORing goes. Because the circulation isnt working, I cant siphon it out. Get out my watering can and take can after can from my backyard through my house to the front yard, so that I can at least water the flowers with some of the 200 gallons dripping out of my spa. I was able to put the cap on the intake valve, so eventually the leaking stops.
Saturday, I leave for volleyball at 8:15 am. Receive a phone call from MY electrician who says he can come out Tues or Wed this week. I call him back and leave a message, saying great¡K call me back to arrange a time. I dont really touch the spa on Saturday.
Sunday, I know I have to empty the spa because an electrician is coming out, I want to move it back to the location where I really want it, and that will be within 8 feet of my highly anticipated new electrical outlet. Yes, this means I am back to taking watering cans through the house to the front yard. Once that is saturated I start dumping the water behind my fence. Eventually, I get it down to about an inch or two of water, and am able to remove the liner, of course, getting it wet and muddy in the process. Hose it off and let it dry out .
Monday¡K. The 2nd electrician calls, and I tell them that I had made an appointment with another one (MINE) because I wasn¡¦t sure when the 2nd one would be able to come out. He said, oh, we could have had someone out today. ARRGGGG. I like my electrician, so I wait for him. Of course, mine does not call me on Monday. Anyway, get home from work and have a little bit of time before I go tutor. I am becoming a pro at setting this thing up, and have learned the importance of making sure the cover fits before adding water. So I move the spa, put down the foam bottom, check to make sure the soft cover snaps on. Take the cover off, put in the liner, which is not super heavy, but is not the lightest thing in the world. Put a little bit of water in it to flatten out the liner, and then put the cover back on. It is a tight fit, but it snaps on. I now have the pump where I want it, a rug in front of it, my table and grill are back on the patio.
Now, if only my electrician would call and I could fill it back up with water and call the company to figure out this ORing thing!!
I will be ready to use it when this is all said and done.

My electrician JUST called. He is coming out this afternoon. º

So my electrician got stuck on a job on Tuesday and didn¡¦t make it to my house, but he did come over yesterday at 4:00 and left around 6:00. Yes! I have an outside outlet Its cool because it has this nice big cover on it, and I am glad the outlet is closer to the pump now.
Anyway, I started once again filling the spa. Well, first I read the email from the manufacturer and figured out where the darn ORing goes. Yeah! So anyway, I thought I was going to be able to use this cool connection and hook the hose up to the kitchen sink to fill it with hot water. Take the screen off again, open the window, shove hose through the window, and of course the fitting does not work. Hook hose up again and start filling the spa. Figure as long I still have the bucket and watering can near, I may as well fill those with hot water from the kitchen sink and dump them in the spa. So once I again I am going through the house to the backyard. Everything is going great!! And then I see that the darn connection is leaking again!! Put the cap on the valve in the tub so it stops leaking unscrew the coupling and finally do what I should have done the first time...said a prayer.... Put the ORing back on, took the cap off and NO LEAKS!! Yeah!!
So it is now Thursday morning, spa has water in it, the temp raised 16 degrees in 11 hours and is now at 95 degrees. It should be perfect by the time I get to use it tonight.
Now all I have to do is figure out how to get the screen back on my window. Yes, I know it sounds easy, but trust me, it requires at least two people!
