It is always difficult for me to judge the size of things online. But since this was called 'compact' I thought it would be about 12 inches or so long and about an inch or so in diameter. The thing is HUGE and heavy and hard to use on yourself. You really need a massage therapist or someone else to hold it and direct its massaging action onto your muscles -- especially if the sore places are on your back. But it has good power, and I like the multiple settings and the ability to add heat for the really stubborn knots.
