Customer Reviews of Cortaid Poison Ivy Care Treatment Kit, 4-Ounce Scrub and 2-Ounce SprayCustomer Review: It works for me.... Summary: 5 Stars
My understanding is that you're supposed to use the scrub right after exposure, not when you see the results of the exposure (blistering, etc). I have a lot of poison ivy in my yard, and frequently come into contact with it when I'm weeding. I've been using this scrub religiously immediately after weeding (even if I think I managed to avoid the poison ivy), and the only time I've had problems since I started using it was one time when I was in a hurry and didn't scrub very well. I apparently missed a spot, and had a small itchy blister there. When used as directed, this product appears to work really well. What I particularly like is that I don't need to wear long-sleeve shirts when weeding now, which is a big deal in our hot, humid southern summers.
I did use the spray when I missed that spot, and I think it did help with the itching.
I bought my original tube of the scrub at another store for $30.00 so I'm very happy to find it here at Amazon for less than $10!
Customer Review: The best I have found -- highly recommended Summary: 5 Stars
I am extremely allergic to poison ivy and finding this product, three years ago, has changed my life. It is extraordinarily effective: if I have any reaction to poison ivy it is limited and controlled by Cortaid Poison Ivy Care. Now I am away from home and cannot find it, and I am covered with suppurating, itching blisters of the kind that Cortaid had -- I thought -- put in the past. Is it true that Cortaid is discontinuing the product? If this is so, I am devastated. I have tried Tecnu, Zanfel, other Cortaids, Aveeno, Calamine and so on and nothing works, while one scrub with Cortaid followed by a couple of sprays sends the poison ivy into oblivion. Please, everyone, write to the manufacturer and beg them to keep producing this terrific medication.
Customer Review: Be careful!! Summary: 2 Stars
According to my doctor, I had an allergic reaction to this stuff. I now have a much worse rash than the original poison ivy rash. Although the scrub and spray did seem to rid me of the poison ivy, I now am on medication for a worse rash.
