I tried CosaminDS as a last resort for relief for my aching knees..(bursitis and arthritis.) I had tried Celebrex and other glucosamin chondroitn with no relief. I was doing research on the internet to try and get relief to my aches and pains when I came across all the glowing reviews for the Cosamin DS. I was convinced enough to buy a big bottle. Previously I could not work at my waitress job without being in major pain. I also had given up running and even walking because of the pain in my knees. Within a week of starting this product, 80% of the pain had gone away. I am taking the 3 tablets a day for the first 2 months then I am going to go down to 2 tablets a day. I am VERY happy with the performance of this product. I have taken up a little running again and now my legs are much more limber and almost free of pain. It helped a lot with the arthritis but I still have some lingering pain from the areas on my knees where I have bursitis. I have only taken the CosaminDS for a little over a month but there is no way I am going back to a generic version of the glucosamine chondroitin because I want to take what I feel is the best. I don't know what the long term results will be but at least I have a hope now for being almost pain free.Customer Review: Extra Knee joint

I bought this product based on my personal experience using glucosamine and chondroitin combination products from other makers, specifically, for my knee joints. I was in a car accident and motorcycle accident as well as many other accidents, which affected one or both knees. I also like to run cross country, and must stay fit for my job, period. Thus, you see the need for this type of supplement in my life. This product came highly rated by Amazoners. After using it, I see why. I did not monitor the "loading phase" and kept taking the loading dosage for many weeks (at least 3 pills a day for me). I finally noticed, when, I felt my left knee (the worse one) and felt a knot right in the area where the car dash had smashed into it. I can only assume the supplement had built up extra coverage at the area of impact. I stopped using the Cosamin DS, and this knot went away. I now take one pill a day. I do not feel my knee joint pain anymore when walking. When I run, I only feel the impact for a few steps, and it goes smoothly after this. I highly recommend this product if you have issues similar to my knee joint issues. This product had the most affect on my joints of all products out there I used, and is worth the cost. I have basal joint arthritis, which means the cartilage at the base of my thumbs has deteriorated. The pain was excruciating and treatments were not working. In desperation, because the pain was ruining a vacation (I couldn't even hold six playing cards in my hand), I bought Cosamin DS after reading everything in the drug aisle. Within 30 minutes of taking it, the pain was bearable - HUGE improvement. I could not believe the difference. If it did that miracle in less than 30 minutes, I can't wait to see what it does long-term.
Update (Feb. 2009) in case anyone reading this has basal joint arthritis or other joint problems. I had adult stem cell treatment (from Regenexx in Colorado) last year (stem cells from my own marrow and blood), which has helped my hands enormously and which I wholeheartedly recommend. One of the pre-injection and post-treatment therapies requested by doctor was CosaminDS, which I still take and which continues to make a difference in my improvement.

I am an aging athlete, in my fifties. After years of wearing down the cartilage in my knees by extensive hiking, I was looking for something to stop the grinding and the pain when I pursued my outdoor activities. I started taking glucosamine/condroitin supplements after reading about them.
After a knee surgery, my surgeon indicated that my articular cartilage was diminishing in both knees. He suggested that I take the above mentioned supplements, but he recommended Cosamin DS as one of the purest products, without the fillers. I have been taking it for two years and I have noticed that my knees don't grind when I go up the stairs in my house as they had in the past. I have been able to continuing hiking and telemark skiing - with minimal pain.
I highly recommend this supplement based on personal experience.

When I had arthroscopic surgery on my knee a couple of years ago, the Dr found that I was down to bone on bone. I had very bad arthritis in that joint and he recommended this brand of Glucosamine. I have been pretty good about taking it faithfully and I am able to do most activities painfree. My exercise is restricted because of other damage to the knee so to be fair it is comprised of activities like bowling, bicycling, low impact aerobics and weights. I was particularly pleased to find the program where the supplements will be sent out on a regular basis so that I don't have to worry about reordering. Plus, the price is one of the best I have found.
