We previously had a humidifier from CVS which was worthless. My sons and I came down with colds the past couple of days and the congestion was getting worse, so after researching online and reading all of the reviews, I sent my husband to Target last night to buy the Crane Frog Humidifier.
I read all the instructions and then set it up in our converted "sick room" while my husband was in the other room. I got the boys and I tucked into bed when my husband came in and said "Oh, is it already on! I can't even hear it, but I can see the mist!" It is SO quiet! We had it on high and there was a slight dripping sound, but it didn't bother me or my kids (1 and 3 years old). I only noticed it because someone else had complained about it, so I listened for it. My husband didn't even notice the sound until I pointed it out. Another person had complained that the light on it was too bright. I didn't think it was bright at all, but then again, I am used to the baby monitor, which is much brighter than the little green light on the humidifier.
I filled the tank almost full and I have had it running continuously on almost full strength since about 11pm last night (almost 14.5 hours ago) and it is still not out of water.
My only complaint is that the mist shoots straight up out of the top of the eyes on the frog version, and the direction is not adjustable as some other reviews had indicated. I don't know if I just got a different version? However, the mist is steady and strong. And when I woke up this morning, I noticed my lips and eyes were moist, unlike the previous mornings. So I do think it works well even though the mist shoots straight up and seems to fall downward. I think it still gets absorbed by the air in the room and does it's job.
So far, I am very impressed and very happy with this product. Because of the quietness, the strength of the mist and the price, I gave this product 5 stars. I plan to buy another one for our house, so that we don't all have to share one room when we need it. Although, I may get the penguin simply because it shoots the steam outward more than upward.
