We have the cow and it is extremely quiet. The tank fills up easily in our bathroom sinks. It runs all night and into the day (if we forget to turn it off). The steam comes from the ears and blows upwards. My husband and I bought this for our room after all the great reviews. We are expecting in May and will purchase a second one for our baby's room. Reviewers say the penguin is the best because the steam blows out vertically through the 'nose' which will be helpful for us as we will place it on a chest high dresser for baby. Currently our cow sits (on a blanket) on our bedside table and the upward steam is perfect. We only noticed it leak one night when we accidentally didn't place the top on correctly, but otherwise NO LEAKS. Water can drip from the tank when you take it off (due to condensation), but it doesn't bother us or our rug.Customer Review: Works well and easy to use

I bought the Crane Adorable 1 Gallon Cool Mist Humidifier after purchasing a super expensive Germ Guardian humidifier. I bought the Germ Guardian humidifier first because it had hot and cold mist, a big resevoir and all kinds of features. However, it leaked all over, was difficult to fill and broke within the week. Down about $200, I decided to try the Crane humidifier which was in the $30ish range. I'm so glad I did. The humidifier works well and will mist through the whole night with only a half tank of water. It's easy to fill (remove the cow face, lift off the water resevoir fill it and replace on the base.) I had to fill the Germ Guardian humidifier in the kitchen sink but this one fits under the bathroom faucet to fill. I did extensive research before I settled to buy this amazing humidifier and I was happy about my decision. This is a wonderfully quite machine and sprays a fine spray of mist all night long and has helped my family a lot from effects of dehydration due to high heat during the night. The feature of an automatic cut-off when it runs out of water also makes me sleep more peacefully. It has multiple humidity settings which vary from 5 to 100% (though not marked on the apparatus). The water mist doesnt collect on the floor, if you keep on a slightly high table from the ground. It's easy to clean but slightly cumbersome to fill-up, but then how easy is it to make something totally PERFECT. I would definitely give 5 stars for this wonderful inexpensive Humidifier.Customer Review: Crane Cow Humidifier

I can only say good things about the Crane Cow Humidifier. It is virtually silent when you sleep, it only makes a few bubbling sounds as water fills from the head of the cow to the basin, and the design is adorable. The mist is cool and comes out of the ears, which is why I chose it in the first place, for the design. It is easy to fill, the head removes and you fill it in the sink. I have seen some reviews that say you need a towel and can expect lots of spills when refilling, but I have not found that to be true. The basin does get slimey from the sitting water, but that is to be expected as it does in all humidifiers. I absolutely recommend this product to anyone as it is easy to care for, and is an absolutely genius design.Customer Review: No problems after one year

I don't know what the other folks are complaining about. I have had the frog humidifier for just over a year and it still works like a charm. I used it all winter here in Minnesota and just took it out of my childrens' room. I always crank it up to the highest level and then back down to just the amount of moisture I want coming out of it. It is not really steam, it's not suppose to be. It is moisture in a vapor form. This humidifier is very quiet and does a great job. Best of all, it doesn't take a filter so you don't have to keep spending money on filters every time you want to use it. I also bought another one for a friend with a new baby at the same time I bought mine, and she hasn't had any problems either.
