This is our first winter in a new apartment, and we have been burning wood and using a gas heater. We noticed lots of static in the air and dandruff on our cats, so we decided to try these Crane humidifiers in order to remedy those problems. They seemed easy enough to use for a couple of inexperienced buyers, and the cuteness was definitely a factor! We ordered Dragon and Penguin. Once they arrived, I was able to get them up and running quickly after reading the instruction booklet (focusing on the troublshooting section just in case). The only issue we have had so far is that the first spot I chose for the Penguin was cushioned and didn't leave enough room underneath for the fan to draw air, so no vapor was coming out. We figured that issue out with the help of the booklet and moved it to a flat, cushion-free surface. We encountered another hiccup when we realized that our water was hard enough to cause dust to be expelled in the vapor--we found it on the outside of the Dragon (it was probably on the Penguin too, but harder to see because the machine is white) and our cat had an asthma attack from breathing it in! We ordered the filters (which I also reviewed) and it's been smooth sailing ever since! We keep one of these in our bedroom and one in our living room. I think if you're looking to humidify a large area these won't be the best choice for you (unless you buy one for each room), but for an open floorplan with about 1,000 sq ft these have been ideal for us as a "winter use only" item. I read some reviews that were quite horrific, but after researching several products and probably hundreds of reviews, I thought I might as well try it and for the price, it was more than reasonable.
Not only is this product adorable, but it does the job of a humidifier without noise. If you put it on the highest setting, then you can hear a mist sound, that is still quite silent. I had not had any leaking issues.
Every night I start the humidifier and shockingly, it can go on for over 12 hours (depending on how long we sleep). I always empty and let it dry out during the day. I have the item elevated as it states to do on a flat surface.
My children know this item is not a toy, so they do not bother it. I think that it helps that it is red (like a warning color). I am really not sure why they haven't messed with this item when they mess with every electronic.
Anyway, you will not be disappointed because this is not only a humidifer that does its job well, but it is cute/decorative.

These are tailored for kids, but my g/f has fairly eclectic tastes, so I picked the dragon for her. She really liked it. We both thought the design should incorporate steam coming out of the nose instead of the top of the ears, but the effect still worked. More importantly, the device itself works really, really well. The g/f had a little trouble of getting the reservoir seated properly, but with a little twisting you can feel when it's on right. It starts working almost immediately when you turn it on. Probably 5 seconds or so, and it is misting. The dial to control the amount of mist works as good as anything can. It's sensitive, stable, and simple. Somebody designed and built this thing right. The only possible complaint I have, is the reservoir doesn't fit in our bathroom sinks very well. Also, the reservoir cap can be tough to get off. I tend to put it on pretty firm, but the moisture and water pressure can make it a bit tough to remove. All in all, a great product.Customer Review: Very Happy With My Dragon.

I had seen cute animal-shaped dehumidifiers in the past, and really wanted to get one. When I started looking at the reviews, I was torn; despite the fact there were more positive reviews than negative reviews, I was still a bit hesitant after reading the poorer reviews. After some contemplation, ("I really want a cute animal-shaped dehumidifier, how can I justify buying one?"), I decided that I really, really wanted one, and I was going to hope that it worked out. So far, it has! I've had it for about a week, and it's working like a charm. I thought I'd add this review in case anyone else was having this dilemma :) If you decide to get one, I hope you like it too! By the way, I got the dragon-shaped one and it's adorableness has exceeded my expectations.Customer Review: Excellent

I have two of these humidifiers and they are great. They are easy to fill, quite & really work. The actually work so well that I have to remember to turn them down when I shut the bedroom doors at night or the room gets to much humidity. The first time I used this I shut my son's door and left this on high, the next morning his room was like a steam room, the carpet was even wet. The designs are really great for kids too and the price is great. Would recommend to any parent. I don't use these all the time, just when the kids are sick so I don't know how long they would last if you were using them on a daily basis. I have had one on these for over a year and have had no problems with it at all, still works just as good as the day I bought it.
