We've gone through many humidifiers over the years and most don't last more than a season. We got this one when our son was born in 2008. It is by far the best we've owned! VERY quiet with lots of output and a nice large tank. We use it all winter and whenever he's got a cold. Cleaning and maintenance have been easy.
I loved the Crane humidifier so much that we bought the smaller capacity tear drop shaped one Crane 2.3 Gallon COOL Mist humidifier for our bedroom. It works just as well as the Penguin and just as quietly! 2 years later it's still going strong and I have recommended these humidifiers to friends and family ever since.

I bought a humidifier at my dermatologist's suggestion since my skin tends to be very dry in the winter time. After an exhaustive search of what was on the market, I decided to go with the Crane penguin humidifier. I wanted something that was fairly inexpensive, small, quiet, something that didn't need to be refilled constantly. This humidifier is all those things and more. The humidifier started working immediately after I turned it on and I can run it for 2 nights without refilling it (I turn the humidifier off when I'm not in the room or at work). This was for my personal use and not for a child or a nursery. I didn't think the design was too childish. It's cute, inconspicuous and works like a charm. Wonderful humidifier. Had it about a year and has been dependable when others weren't. I had gone through four before the penguin, and one of them was a high output one. This one, after running non-stop for three or four days puts a nice haze throughout the house, letting me know I'm not just wasting my time. Yes, it stops working if the base is too full; so just don't fill the base. My 2 year old thinks it's cute, his room is full of animals, but he knows it is a no touch item and most of the time will leave it alone aside from turning it on or off. It is quiet besides the occasionally blurp blurp blurp you hear as the base fills, much like a water cooler. But I don't even notice it when I'm in his room.Customer Review: Worth the Money!

This humidifier has been great. It puts out a substantial mist. It is VERY quiet. I usually run this humidifier overnight and turn it off during the day. It usually lasts about 3-4 days before I have to re-fill it. It is very easy to fill up---just unscrew the cap, fill and put back on the unit. I like the penguin because the head helps to direct the mist in a certain direction. The mist comes out of his beak. The head comes off and there is a handle underneath---that is how you lift out the tank to fill it up. Overall, I think this product is a great value. The best part is that there are no yucky filters to change! In my opinion, that makes this item very economical and very easy to use!Customer Review: Perfect for kids

We have had this humidifier for maybe 3 weeks now, and use it every night in our kids' bedroom. One of them, age 3, had daily/nightly nosebleeds, but hasn't had a single one since we started humidifying! It is simple to use, and I love that you can adjust the amount of mist that comes out.
We have the penguin positioned on the top of a chest of drawers, with a waterproof fabric underneath, and that works perfectly.
This humidifier does still need to be cleaned to make sure there is no slimy build-up. I notice some in the head of the penguin yesterday, and it was a touch difficult to clean the inside of the bill. But we still love this and I would purchase it again.
