I live in San Francisco, and I used to see this stuff at our hippie food co-op. There are some healthy things I am all for, and usually used Tom's of Maine deodorant, but I was extremely skeptical about this, and made frequent jokes about the smelly hippies on the bus who must use this product. Boy was I wrong (apparently they don't use anything at all).
My entire life, I never sweated very much, and had zero armpit odor. A few months ago that changed. I'm not sure if it was hormonal or what, but all of a sudden, I smelled funky! I didn't sweat, I just had smelly armpits (I know it's gross, but this is a review of deodorant). I knew I couldn't use the typical stuff: Secret, etc., because I'm scent sensitive and those are so heavily perfumed they give me a headache. Plus, they stain my shirts yellow. I started googling and saw that Slate had reviewed deodorants. I checked their reviews and this actually got very high marks.
So I tried it. WOW. I am no longer stinky at all! Not even slightly! It lasts well, from shower to shower, I guess. Instead of running it under the tap, I just run it under my wet armpits after a shower. The next day I reapply just out of paranoia. I am amazed at how well this works. My husband uses it, too, and he is really impressed as well. It's in a pink container, but don't be shy dudes, this stuff works! In fact, we're sitting here in a non-airconditioned LA apartment as we speak, suffering through the worst heat wave on record (113). It's like an oven in here, and you can't smell either one of us.
My skin is also very sensitive, in fact, I'm sitting here with swollen arms from solar dermatitis as I type. I have had no bad reactions from this crystal. In fact, it's like I'm not wearing anything at all (except I don't stink). I can't rave about this enough.
