I really like this device. People on here complain they cannot use it between their teeth. I can understand this. With the vibration it would be easy to get this stuck in between the teeth and then you would run a risk of killing the nerve, fracturing a tooth or the porcelein on a crown. You need to be flossing to get food out from between the teeth...period! If you do not floss regularly, then you keep decomposing food in your mouth and it sets up a bacterial infection..i.e. gingivitis. Should that infection continue on due to improper/poor oral hygiene, then you risk developing periodontitis which means the underlying bone and tissue are diseased. Again, you need to floss DAILY to get food out before it mineralizes into tartar.
I bought this for my dog so I could use it and hopefully minimize her having anesthesia for a cleaning. I almost lost her due to anesthesia complications before and did not want to take a chance with her life again. I bought a second one for myself so I could touch up at home. If you are buying this for a pet, please consider an electric toothbrush for daily use so it keeps the plaque and tartar buildup down. There are enzymatic toothpaste kits at places like WalMart, so these work really well when used on a daily basis.
I would encourage everyone to rinse well after EACH use and then wipe it down with an antiseptic to kill the bacteria, allow to dry thoroughly before storing. I also would do the same prior to each use of wiping the tip and handle down to kill bacteria so you do not transfer unwanted bacteria back into your mouth.
People should not use this to avoid needed cleanings for themselves or their pets. Your oral health professionals should always monitor that primarily.
