My husband and I have been using Desert Essence tea tree oil toothpaste (the mint flavor).
Since we started buying it the package is more modern than on the Amazon page. It also comes in a 6.25 oz tube instead of 7 oz.
As other reviewers have mentioned, this toothpaste is not very sweet like other toothpastes usually are. It does make your mouth feel clean when you use it. I don't think it does much to whiten teeth; I think my teeth have lost some whiteness since I started using this, but I just use whitener from my dentist instead.
The reason we started buying this toothpaste (and will continue to do so) is that this toothpaste is SLS free and fluoride free. It is also gluten free and 100% vegan, although we don't really care much about those (and do toothpastes usually have gluten anyway?).
The one weird thing about this is, the ingredient list is only listed on the package, and not on the actual tube. For a brand that caters to people who care about the ingredients, it seems kind of strange that the ingredient list is not on the tube. So, read it and memorize it before you toss the package, or you'll just be wondering later.
Overall, a pretty good toothpaste, and we feel like it is a "safe" alternative to the toothpastes we used to use. I suspect most kids probably would not like the flavor.
