Had ankle surgery. Crutches don't work for me (hanging one's leg down just causes swelling/irritation). Very easy to assemble, adjustable. The groves in the seat are a must for comfort and shin stability on seat. Those that don't get a knee walker with them end up trying to cushion the seat, likely allowing the knee to slip off the seat. Good turn radius. Mine did not come with a basket so I purchased the Sunlite Mesh Bottom Bicycle Lift Off Basket (amazon.com) for $16 and it fits great. I highly suggest buying the scooter (instead of renting - you can always sell it after) and having it a week before surgery. Get used to using it and have it for when you first get home. I did that and am grateful. I cannot use it one handed well, though - requires both hands. Bought a dog leash that attaches to my waist and have walked my dog a few times so far with it (taking her some getting used to it but she is adjusting). My only complaint is that I cannot lock down the handlebar stem in such a way that the handbars remain parallel to the front wheels. If you fit a bump (side walks esp.), you will likely need to stop and rotate the handbar stem slightly to get the handlebars even again with the wheels below. I can pick it up to get into a car because I have good one-leg balance but for a small female, it is a bit heavy to lift. Oh, and I am 5'2" - lowest seat position is just a tad bit too high but not enough for me to have not gotten it.
