Fast and works on NiMH or NiCd cells of various makes -- and they're only WARM at charge completion, not hot. In addition to NiMH cells, NiCd AA cells of 600 mAh and 1100 mAh capacity also charge well in this device, but the cell must have some remaining voltage to start, so start fully-drained cells in another charger (such as Duracell CEF12N) before putting them in this one.
Plus: Separate compact switching power supply uses standard line cord so crowded sockets are usable. Works automatically on 100-240 volts at 50-60 Hz. 12 volt DC input makes the CEF90NC charger easily adaptable for mobile use (a kit with this device AND a lighter adapter is available).
Minus: Power supply casing is welded, with fixed device lead, so when the lead fails repair may be impossible. The whole CEF90NC kit is bulkier and heavier than the excellent 6-hour CEF12N, and has moving parts that will probably make the device fail sooner.

when i bught my duracell cef90nc charger, the package did not show any specific information about battery suported. it wasn't until after i openned the the clamshell it comes in, that the specific info was revealed. i said " charge duracell nimh rechargeable only" or it may blowup. but when i bught this thing at the store, i could not see this info and i also bought a pack of energizer nimh. will they blow up if i use them on my duracell charger? who knows? is this battery terrorism? is this a marketing scam to force us buy duracel only nimh batteries? if
i believe it, i'll have to waste time going back to the store for an exchange. if i don't believe it, i might get injured. this totally really vacuums.

Simply the best, only 30 minutes and your bateries AA/AAA are ready to go and comes with 4 NiMH AA bateries. It has a cooler for the bateries heat protection during charging. The Duracell CEF90NC battery charger is a great little product
that beats the competition hands down.
As a technician, I have used rechargeables for years from everything from pagers to flashlights. Until recently I
always used Eveready chargers and batteries. Eveready seemed to
do the job by saving me from running out and buying standard
batteries all the time, but I found myself constantly having
to recharge...even with minimal use, as the battery power never seemed to last very long. With Eveready I would have to recharge
every 2 to 3 days in order to ensure a fresh battery, but
with Duracell I can easily go weeks at a time in between charges
without a worry.
In addition, The Duracell charger charges so much faster than
Eveready did. The unit is advertised as a 30 minute charger, but I have found it to work in about half that time. And you never
have to worry about overcharging as the charger shuts off
automatically when full charge has been reached, and an LED
indicator lets you know the status of the batteries at all times.
All in all a great little charger...only wish I had bought one like this a long time ago.
