Customer Review: Great Little Pick-It-Upper!
Summary: 5 Stars

The Duro-Med Reacher with Magnetic Tip is helping me get a grip on a variety of items!
Shoes, socks, peanuts, paper clips, pen, pencil and paper have easily been picked up by yours truly!
I just reach for what I want, place the claw on it, squeeze the trigger and pick up the targeted item.
The magnetic tip is pretty nifty. It picked up nails, staples and paper clips just fine.

If you're like me you have said at least one, if not all, of the following way too many times. Starting with: 'Oops! I dropped it, could you pick that up for me?' ~ 'Sorry, dropped it again! ~ Or in total frustration if by yourself, '*#@& That's just great! Now what?' ~ 'Ooh! That hurt! I should've just left it!'

If you relate to any of the above, then this is what you need. Gaining more independence is awesome. The Duro-Med Aluminum Reacher with Magnetic Tip, 26 Inch is ideal for taking clothes out of the dryer, as suggested by the previous reviewer. Thank You! I bought both the 26" and the 32" length reachers. I am using one for the dryer and one for general use. Now, I no longer have to rely on others . . . . . .
unless, of course, I drop the reacher! ~ Mrs. B.

Customer Review: Perfect for back patients
Summary: 5 Stars

This reacher was recommended to my husband by his PT after his L5-S1 fusion surgery. It's quite the handy little device. He uses it to grab produce out of the bottom crisper in the fridge, pick up dropped pens or paper, and to close the door of our car without twisting his back.

The curved grabber part has a grooved tip and it meets a flat edge with ridged rubber on it, giving it a fairly good grip on even rather slippery items. The small magnetic tip at the end will pick up very small metal items (think bottle caps) but fails at anything bigger. The other side has a little metal post, about 3/4" long, that serves as a fixed hook. It looks pretty small but hangs onto more than you'd think. Oh, and the pistol-grip handle has a hole in the butt--string a large cable tie through it to serve as a loop to help pick it up when it's dropped.

The 32" length is good for a man of average height (5'10" to 6')... for a short man or an average woman, the 26" version would probably be a better length. Medical supply houses carry it, but Amazon is cheaper, and delivered it in just a few days. It's been an indispensable device during his recovery, well worth the price.

Customer Review: from the owner of 6 different reachers - thumbs up
Summary: 5 Stars

Last fall I had a serious back surgery, so my house is full of reachers (currently numbering 6 total) to help me do various chores. This reacher is one of the most used. It has easiest to squeeze mechanism and I use it to pick up laundry out of the washing machine one item at a time without any pain in my hand.

This reacher does a great job on items that are larger (like my laundry). However, its gripping mechanism does not work well for small things like a small piece of paper, a needle that fell on the floor, or other tiny things. For those jobs the Unger reacher is betterUnger 92134 36-Inch Nifty Nabber Pick-Up Tool with Aluminum Handle, as its picking mechanism is second to none. Picking up small sewing needles from the floor is easy in one take. But Unger's squeezing mechanism requires a bit more force so it is harder on your hand, and I can't do laundry with it - the muscles in my hand start to hurt.

Bottom duro-med reacher is very good for the jobs that don't require picking up very small objects.

Customer Review: My 3rd hand!
Summary: 5 Stars

About 3 weeks after my hip replacement and unable to bend down completely, I began to use what I call "the grabber". At first it seemed awkward, but in time, I began to challenge what "the grabber" and I could do. We were able to grab cleaning products from the lower cabinet, dust furniture with the dust cloth attached to "the grabber", grab canned goods from the lower cabinets (I never used "the grabber" for anything above my head.), pick up items that I would clumsily drop to the floor, and pull up my pants while getting dressed. It has become my 3rd arm, and it has allowed me to do far more than I would have been able to do. Thank you, "grabber"!

Customer Review: Great for dog owners
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this for a unique and specific purpose- playing fetch with my dog. I've got a high energy Boston Terrier who loves nothing more than chasing tennis balls in the yard but I've got a bad back so bending over to pick up the ball 50+ times every day is very painful. This tool not only allows me to play with my dog without bending over, it also flings the tennis ball farther than I could throw it on my own and saves my hands from getting covered with dog slobber.

I know most people use the tool for other purposes, but my use just speaks to its versatility. Great product.
