Customer Reviews of Earth Mama Angel Baby Organic Angel Baby Shampoo & Body Wash, 5.3-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 3)Customer Review: Great Product for Babies, Children, and Adults! Summary: 4 Stars
I have a son with autism and he has very sensitive skin. He has taken really well to this and even loves the foam put on him so he can wash himself. We also have an infant and he gets really clean and smells great after using Earth Mama Angel Baby. I liked this because it did not have any of the chemicals to numb babies eyes so, you just have to be careful not to get it in the eyes. I looked at the Skin Deep cosmetic database and this was one on there with no toxins!
Customer Review: Lovely Scent, No Scary Ingredients, But Ferments Quickly Summary: 3 Stars
My mom bought us a whole care package of Earth Mama Angel Baby products after our second child was born. She had done exhaustive research on the safety of a number of different baby products (you'd be surprised what's in most of it) and this was one of the very, very few to rate a zero hazard on the Environmental Working Group's Skin Deep Database. So, that's a huge point in its favor and most of the stars given it are based on this.
Then there's the scent. It smells like creamsicles! And yet it's got this warmth underneath the creamsicle scent. It's really pleasant, especially on a newborn baby.
The bottle it comes in is great! It extends the use of this the shampoo *really* far if you use it conservatively. And because I knew how much it cost, I'd rarely use more than one or two pumps worth in a single bath, which made plenty of sudsy bubbles.
It definitely cleans, but it was kind of shocking to me just how straw-like my daughters hair felt after rinsing. I read this happens with people who switch to castile shampoo in the initial transition as it strips chemicals from the hair, but my experience was that this was always the case, even after six months. However, when my daughter's hair dried, it was quite soft and normal.
Anyway, the loss of two stars was simply based on the shelf life, something that I found, disappointingly, varied from bottle to bottle. Our first couple of bottles lasted six months. The next couple we bought (with money we didn't really have, I might add) were rancid after only a couple months. When it goes bad, it actually smells like an alcoholic beverage. Think fermented fruit. Now, two plus years ago, the price for these was a bit steeper and they had to be ordered directly from the company plus shipping. So this was pretty devastating to me.
Had I given much thought to the fact that this has NO PRESERVATIVES in it, and since we live in a warm climate this could totally wreck my expensive purchase, I'd have likely refrigerated it between bathing. Maybe the label should say something to this effect.
Instead I just didn't buy it again.
Perhaps you can learn from my mistake, or at least make a more informed decision. I think this is a nice, though perhaps not totally perfect, product. But only if it is stored as if it were a perishable food item. The same condition, by the way, applies to the lotion. The bottom balm, however, is a safer bet in terms of shelf life.
Customer Review: Smells Gross Summary: 2 Stars
I love natural shampoos and we've had great results with other brands. I happened to have a $2 off coupon for Earth Mama Angel Baby line, and went with this foaming shampoo and body wash.
I am going to throw it away after two baths.
This stuff smells really bad. At first while using, it smells yummy, like oranges. I noticed a weird smell to my son's hair the next day. His dad hates the smell from the get go, and claims it smells nothing like oranges.
Great idea, great company philosphy, terrible scent. Don't waste your money!
