I bought this product after being disappointed with my inconsistent Taylor scale. I was very happy to find that this scale is:
1. CONSISTENT. I stepped on the scale a few times in five minutes and it gave me exactly the same reading every time. I repeated this test over the course of a few days with the same result every time.
2. ACCURATE. So as to ascertain the scale is giving accurate readings, I did the following test. First weigh myself. Allow the scale to reset to zero then put a known weight on it. Allow the scale to reset to zero again. Finally, step on the scale with the known weight in hand and check the combined weight. I noticed that the combined weight always matched the sum of the individual weights. I did this test several times using different weights and the scale passed every test.
3. EASY TO USE. To power the scale on, you tap it and this sometimes works. I find, however, that if I lift it just a bit with my toe and drop it, it powers on every time. To take your weight, just step on it after it resets to zero and your reading displays in big easy to read numbers. If you step off of it, it resets to zero, ready for use again. The scale powers off automatically after a short while.
4. ATTRACTIVE. The scale has a simple, elegant appearance and I like how it looks in my bathroom.
I have not yet tested it against my doctor's scale. Hopefully it will match but even if it is off by a pound or two, at least I know it's consistent so I can still be confident in its readings.
At a price of $28.95 at the time I bought it, I think this scale was well worth the price. 5 stars from me.
Customer Review: Just what I needed and from a local business!

I ordered this scale two days ago and received it today. I noticed that it was made in NJ (where I live) and I was happy about that. I opened the box, put the batteries in and it was good to go. I was also surprised by a little EatSmart measuring tape, how nice! I LOVE the LED light, it makes it so easy to read. At first I was scared to step onto glass, but when I stepped on, it started weighing immediately and within seconds started blinking with my weight. I stepped off and on about 3 times. I walked away to put some recycling outside, came back and slid it over on the floor to weight myself again. This is why I was going to give it four stars. It got stuck on 4.4 lbs with nothing on it! I tried moving it, but only taking the batteries out and putting them back in worked. I then stepped on again and it weighed me as .2 lbs heavier. It had only been about 1 minute and I hadn't ingested anything to added any clothing. That was confusing to me. I stepped on and off 3 more times and it read the same weight (with the additional .2). So oh well. I bought the thing to figure out how much I weighed since my old "tap" scale was a piece of junk (and probably more expensive)! So here are my pros and cons...
Pros:
- very sleek design, looks good anywhere
- nice big readable backlit display
- perfect size
- batteries included, easy setup
- nice little measuring tape gift
- step and weigh, no tapping
- great price
- small company who care about their customers
Cons:
- very few and far between, but occasional adjustments needed (picking up, taking batteries out and in)

Everything I wrote in my first review is true. It's a great scale and it's definitely worth every penny. I keep it outside my door (I live in a sorority house) and the girls complement me all the time about how great the scale is. I'm going to take it away so they can buy one themselves in order to support this company.
I contacted them when it started to malfunction (because my return date for Amazon had passed) and they were very supportive and extremely helpful, despite when I had bought it. I was ready to defend my case, but I didn't have to! They were very sweet, understanding and promised to send me a new one ASAP, without me having to spend extra money to send it back. BUY BUY BUY!! They truly are a great business and I completely support small businesses that take care of their customers. Cheers to them!
p.s. The scale calibrates itself every time you use it so you know you will always receive an accurate reading. I'm an engineering major graduating from UC Berkeley. I'm brainwashed and trained to analyze, experiment, and test the validity of the products and their claims. It passed my numerous tests with high marks (This is before I had to exchange it. I believe I received a defective one, but EatSmart took care of it). Try it for yourself, perform some experiments and you'll find you won't be disappointed. In the odd case you do, call them. They'll take great care of you.
I AM NOT PAID TO ENDORSE THIS COMPANY. They are a small business with amazing customer service and they take care of their customers like family. As a result, I have great respect for them.

My original review is below but have done a 180 on how I now feel about this scale. Immediately after posting this review someone from the company contacted me to help figure out what was wrong with the scale. We determined it was defective. I returned the scale to Amazon and the company sent me a replacement. I was skeptical when I received it but EVERYTHING I didn't like about the first scale received was resolved with the new product.
It works great. The weights are consistent and accurate. The "tap" to activate the scale works great. It's reliable. Best of all, I'm pleased to know the customer service at the manufacturing company is top-notch. I've also bought a kitchen food scale from this company and it's been perfect from the start. I do now highly recommend this product. It was worth the slight problems I had because now I have an incredibly great working and good looking scale.
What a huge disappointment. It looks really good and feels very stable when standing on it, even with your feet to the edges.
However, the scale in grossly inaccurate. I can weigh myself three times in a row within 30 seconds of each other and it gives me measurements up to 5 pounds apart. I tried placing my feet in the exact same spot each time, too, to see if that is the problem but it's not. And it's even worse if you put your feet in slightly different spots on the scale. At 6:00 in the morning, should I really have to be that careful about where I place my feet?
Returning today.
Customer Review: Easy to use; large readout

When we bought our first house two years ago, one casualty of the move was our old bathroom scale. I got by without a scale because I could stand on the shipping scale at work if I needed to know my weight. The drawback to this method was the audience that my weigh-ins attracted.
Three weeks ago I decided it was time to stop talking about that diet and, if I was serious about that, to buy an accurate scale.
I was initially skeptical about the glass in the scale being sturdy enough. The reviewers did not find the glass to be a problem and once I received the product, my skepticism vanished. Once I activate the scale with the required foot tap and let it zero itself, the scale works like a champ. I can easily read the result. The scale doesn't seem to vary in my daily readings, either, like my last one did. And it displays weight in tenths which is a nice touch for dieters who need to see every little bit of progress!
The only caution I offer is this: learning how to tap the scale to get it to turn on and self-zero is a bit tricky. I find that I have to slap it with my foot as if I had a seal flipper. Once I learned that trick, I can activate it on the first try.
I definitely recommend this scale. The price is right. The design is stylish (except for that horrible sticker instructing the user to tap the scale here). And it does the job without adding lots of unnecessary features.
So now, instead of my daily communal weigh-in on the shipping scale, I weigh myself before I leave for the office.
