I've been wet shaving with double edge safety razors for about five years now and will never go back to the multi-blade cheese graters that pass as shaving implements these days. I keep 4 DE razors in rotation for my daily shave routine. Like most guys who have gone the DE wet shaving route, my razors come mostly from Germany because that's the brand you find most often. Then I started reading about the Edwin Jagger razors on some of the shaving forums, particularly the DE89. The things that distinguished this razor for me was the very high quality of the razor, it's impeccable finish, and it's heft. It is slightly heavier than the Merkur Heavy Classic I own and just a bit longer too. For a guy with slightly larger hands, that can be a big deal. The shave is slightly more aggressive than the Heavy, but not too much. The combination puts this razor at the number two slot in my rotation behind the Merkur Futur - at a fraction of the cost.
If you are new to wet shaving or have been around the block awhile and are curious about something other than the Merkur, Parker, or Rooney products, you cannot go wrong with this razor! The price is a bargain for an instrument of this quality. It was delivered promptly in a nice presentation box in mint condition, so if you're looking for a perfect gift for the wet shaving enthusiast, this is it!
