I bought this prodctfor use by a family member who is bedridden. This is ideal to prevent bed sores, and to provide greater comfort. The foam is durable and retains its shape fairly well. Best if used over a firm bed. Air out the mtress pad for a few hours after removing from packaging, and no smells remained. We used it over a firm bed, and laid a soft rubber sheet and regular cotton sheets over it, yet it retained its function. Would highly recommend for ailing individuals who need to be on the bed for long periods of time.
