I bought this bell to use at conferences to signal the attendees that sessions are about to start. It is loud enough to be heard easily above the din of a coffee break with 100 people conversing with each other. The bell itself is simple, but of reasonably good quality and solid construction -- particularly considering its modest price. It is large enough that the sound is not shrill, but still small enough to make it easy to pack in a corner of my briefcase for transportation to and from meetings.
