So I was feeling EXTRA neurotic and bought both this model and the bigger more expensive Braun 5270 Silk-épil X'elle Body System Epilator. The Emjoi Slim is really great because it is small and thus less tweezers at a time to remove hair, (less painful, IMO). I was able to use it on my under arms, bikini, and upper lip fairly easily. The pain level to me is about a 6 out of10 but I am used to getting brazillian and lip waxing so this was tolerable. I'm Japanese, my hair on my underarm and bikini is pretty dark and coarse, so I was really looking for this product to work and it did!! The speed is not too fast (which I like), much slower than the bigger versions like the Braun 5270. Runs on double AA batteries so I can take it pretty much anywhere and not be constricted by a stupid power cord. You do have to go over the areas a bit more because it's slower and smaller, but I felt like I could pace myself for the pain better than the Braun on my bikini and underarm. I was able to remove hair with "tolerable" pain from my underarm, frontside of my bikini line (the insides of my legs hurt too much, yes i tried it, so I'll just stuck with shaving those areas for now), and finally my upper lip was super easy! I found doing 1/2 inch sections at a time and holding skin flat and taut provides the most comfortable way of epilating. The Braun X'elle is great on it's own but probably will just use it on my underarms and legs since they aren't as painful to do in large amounts (to me).
I highly recommend this product! It's the closest I got to waxing results. Would be great for touchups in between waxing or just using regularly. Prob not too good if you have sensitive skin, but the bumps go away within 8-12hours. I also used this product called "get the bump outta here by deborah's esthetics (google it), which I bought from my esthetician after my brazillian waxes and it worked really well in helping control the irritation after epilating too. I love that my underarms and bikini areas can now be hair free at my control and not have to wait 2+ weeks for it to "grow out" to properly wax.. And it looks so much than shaving! no shadows! & all this for less than half of a single waxing session.
