I've tried for years to remove my facial hair, and hadn't found anything that worked properly. Tweezing takes forever, waxing is painful, irritating and expensive, creams don't work. I bought this without high expectations but was pleasantly surprised. It does hurt, but so does waxing and tweezing, and you get used to the feeling after 5 minutes or so. It did a great job a removing almost all of my hairs -- better results than I'd ever had with waxing or tweezing. Well, well worth the money! And it didn't leave my face irritated or blotchy. This little machine is the first invention that has really helped me to control a prickly hair problem on my chin and upper lip with no residues (like wax to clogs pores) and just a bit of discomfort (pulling the hair gives a little pinch). The cost is minimal, the design is very comfortable in your hand, and each day I touch my chin to find it as soft as a baby's bottom. It really is quite a problem solver for just a minute or two every few days. Head and shoulders above tweezing. Emjoi is a fine company selling equipment that does what it claims to do. My mother is vision impaired, and for us, this device is a gem. Before the Tweeze, I used to spend an hour of every visit together tweezing, trimming, waxing, etc. Now, she uses her Tweeze a few times a week and our visits are much less 'hairy'.
Of course, it hurts for a microsecond when hairs are ripped out of your face, but to me it's a satisfying little jolt. I admit to giving this as a gift to friends and relatives!
Bottomline: it works best on strong, dark hair vs. fine peach fuzz. An added bonus? It exfoliates and removes dry skin skin wherever you use it.

The description of this product is pretty right on. It isn't as loud as some of the reviewers claim it is. It makes a slight buzzing noise...about as loud as a nose/ear hair trimmer. And it does not hurt, especially if you are accustomed to tweezing your stray hairs, this product causes no discomfort at all. It also pretty much drives itself forward across your skin.
Just as it says in the instructions that come with the tweeze, hairs have to be at least 5mm for the product to grasp and pull it.
