UPDATE: I still think this is the best option for facial hair removal. I notice the hair grows back pretty fast, so it may be that some of this fuzz is breaking off rather than getting pulled out by the roots. However, I can see entire hairs caught in the spring, so I know it is pulling at least some out by the roots. The day after I use this, I am really happy with how my face looks.
As I say, much of the hair seems to grow back fast, so in that sense, it's not that much different from shaving--except that the Epicare irritates my skin mildly and briefly, if at all, whereas when I was experimenting with shaving, it was pretty hard on my skin.
On most areas, it is a very tolerable stinging sensation. The upper lip was extremely painful--the same as it is with tweezers--so I did just a little at a time, and now virtually all of that hair is gone, so it should be very manageable from now on, just a few hairs now and then to remove with the Epicare. Those hairs are a bit sturdier, so I think they mainly did get pulled out by the root.
I use Epicare after showering (when my face is clean and exfoliated) and I put a bit of hydrogen peroxide on my face afterwards.

I've been fretting over how to remove peach fuzz from my face--this fuzz has gotten to be quite long and abundant as I near 50. A friend suggested electrolysis, but that didn't sound feasible for so many teeny tiny hairs (if it is even possible, it would be staggeringly expensive).
I tried Epicare last night--will update my review if my opinion changes--and it quickly removed large patches of fuzz with just a minor stinging sensation. (But this IS just fuzz; if you are dealing with real hairs, I reckon it would hurt more.)
I washed my face beforehand and put hydrogen peroxide on it, and I put hydrogen peroxide on my face afterward, plus a bit of antibiotic gel, but I don't think the latter was really needed; calendula cream would probably be just fine. Irritation to my skin was minimal, and it took about two minutes to remove an amazing amount of fuzz! I am delighted.
