Customer Review: Mine grew mold

I have owned this for 4 months. First, mine also came with the filter in pieces and the filters are only sold on one website I could find. I do not use mine every night because I live where the humidity varies greatly, but I took it up to the mountains for five days. I changed the water each day, but the base of the unit grew mold which I cannot completely remove. I washed all the pieces, except the base, in the dishwasher but the base contains the electrical components. Now I am afraid to use it. Any suggestions? I used my old humidifier for years and never once had a mold problem. Also, the Eva-mist puts out a fine white dust, which my old unit did not (same water).Customer Review: Could be better

Unnecessary beeping indicator for low level water.
Filter opens up during shipping and no mension or pics of media in directions. Tech support is weak for this product.

The humidifier arrived quickly and well packaged, however the unit was defective. It would not start up. Sometimes it would just screech - which I think is the alarm that it is out of water, though it had water in it. Nothing ever appeared on the blue LCD screen except for some garbled gibberish at times.
Sad to say, but back it goes! Don't think going to try another...
update on packets: I emailed their support in regards to the 2 packets of stuff (they were loose for me as well). They said that they are suppose to be inside of the filter and must have become loose during shipment.

It arrived in a timely manner (well, considering the $8.95 shipping charge),and it worked at first, despite the loud noise it makes for a ultrasonic hummidifier. A few days later, it started to make the screech in the middle of the night, which I suppose was the alarm for low water level, however, there was well more than half a tank of water in it.
If you are thinking about buying this product, think twice.

After using it for 2 months, my unit is having the same issue that people have said here. It won't stop screeching even if the unit is full of water!!!
Don't know what to do. Is it past warranty yet? Too expensive to mail back to have it fixed!
