I'm a pediatrician and was skeptical about using this, since I'd never seen it in use in any medical office. I bought it to use with my daughter, and I love it. It seems to be very accurate, and gives a reading in seconds. The con is that you either have to get your child to hold still while you sweep it across their temple/forehead, or you have to learn to be quick and hold your hand steady while the child moves. But even if you aren't successful... who cares? You can try again since it only takes seconds.Customer Review: Great.

I bought this thermometer because I don't want to take a temp on my daughter rectally every time I think she might have a temperature. Our pediatrician wants a rectal temp to be seen for a sick appointment, so I can at least get an idea of if I need to go through that hassle. I do agree with the reviewer who said that its a bit difficult to know if the unit is placed flat on the forehead. I don't think that it is that hard though. I am so glad I chose to purchase this thermometer. The accuracy is amazing. It has worked great for myself as well as my 5 year old son. So simple and easy. Just push a button and slowly move the unit across the forehead. If you can put your finger in the center of your forehead and trace a line to your hair near your temple...you're done! I was even able to check my son's temperature while he was sleeping without waking him. No probe covers to buy and it uses a common 9V battery.Customer Review: TAT 2000C

I work as a R.N. and this is an excellent product. I use it daily and it is more accurate than the old probe type thermometers that we paid hundreds of dollars for. The speed at which it reads a temp is just a second or two. Well worth the price. Co-workers are so impressed that a few of them have even asked me to order them one. Fast shipping. I was really hesitant to take my newborn's temperature rectally. We had gotten the in-the-ear thermometer as a gift but were told by our pediatrician that you can't use this on newborns. My husband found this and I have to say it was the best investment we ever made--it's very accurate and totally non-invasive. The best part is that you can take your child's temperature while they are sleeping. I would totally recommend this as a gift for parents of newborns.
