Customer Reviews of FRS Healthy Energy Liquid Concentrate, Low Cal Orange, 32-Ounce BottleCustomer Review: Nothing special here Summary: 2 Stars
While shopping for a new pair of running shoes at Roadrunner Sports, I picked up a bottle to give it a try. Not impressed. Tastes like orange juice and doesnt give me any energy. Does provide some vitamins but you can do much better just taking a Centrum. Wont buy it again.
Customer Review: beware Summary: 2 Stars
FRS was okay. But beware of ordering and read the fine print. After refusing 2 shipments, I discovered that I have lost my money because they do not credit you if you refuse a package!!
Customer Review: Didn't give any noticeable engergy.. Summary: 2 Stars
I felt no energy difference, and I wasn't even looking for an espresso-type pick me up or anything. I gave it 2 stars because it is delicious, and has healthy ingredients.
Customer Review: FRS is a marketing company Summary: 1 Stars
Save your money and get quercetin - the active ingredient in FRS - directly and much more cheaply via capsules from a reputable supplement provider. Despite what the company says the science is not clear that quercetin does anything anyway (see below). The rest is expensive sugar water, caffeine (sorry, I mean "metabolic enhancer") and marketing. I don't think I've ever seen a supplement more heavily advertised than FRS and it's obvious who pays for this outlay.
Update Jan 2010. This is from the December issue of the respected Berkeley Wellness Newsletter:
The dietary supplement quercetin does not enhance
athletic performance, boost energy, or reduce fatigue,
despite the marketing claims. This was seen in a recent
well-designed study from the University of Georgia, in which
30 young men did cycling tests before and after taking quercetin
or a placebo for up to 16 days. The results were similar
in the two groups. Quercetin is an antioxidant found in many
fruits and vegetables; it is the main ingredient in FRS, a widely
advertised energy drink promoted by Lance Armstrong.
Customer Review: Statins users call your doctor before use Summary: 1 Stars
Each morning I take Verapamil, which is a statin, to control erratic heart beats. I bought the soft chew FRS product yesterday afternoon and took two chews around 2:15. Within 30 minutes I felt and energy surge. It was amazing. There was an energy drop off around 8:00pm. I was quite pleased.
This morning I took two soft chews before the Verapamil.
Mistake!
I immediately had the same uncomfortable feeling in my chest as when I forget to take the Verapamil until later in the day. Was it a reaction to the chews? You better believe it. Worse yet the Verapamil bottle had a warning stating that the patient must not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice.
So what's my beef? FRS and its marketing arm must warn statin users about the possible drug interactions before a purchase is made if they want to be seen as a reputable firm.
