Customer Review: A pleasant and attractive air freshener with safe battery powered flickering candle

The base takes 2 AA batteries (which come with the starter kit) to power the "candle" but it should be noted that a) batteries are not needed for this air freshener to perfume the room, it works independently of the battery power which is nothing more that a classy touch to power the light and make it appear as a flickering candle and b) the "candle" feature does not work without the shade being in place, or rather, if you turn the unit on the candle will not illuminate until the shade is put in place as there is a small button which is depressed when the shade is in place which allows the light to stay on. The shade has four sides and it sits perfectly in the base unit to complete the look.
I have the green tea citrus scent, which is pleasant without being overpowering. Many of these air fresheners tend to make my nose itch and my eyes water so I appreciate subtle, unobtrusive scents. It is a bit like the smell of bergamot. I put mine in a basement game room that has the chronic musty basement odor and within 15 minutes it was smelling lovely. I plan to only put the candle on if we are in the room and/or entertaining guests and the rest of the time it's a cute and power free air freshener.
I think this is a good choice for a room freshener as it does not require a wall outlet (so no wasted power and it can be set anywhere), it is attractive and there is much less waste as you are only discarding a small paper shade instead of a plastic bottle, wax, reeds, etc. The paper shades could even be recycled into art projects, paper collage, or drawer sachets as they lose most of their scent and need replacing (the box recommends once a week changing). Note: the box does say the fragrance oils can cause skin irritation so use appropriate caution and supervision if you intend to recycle the shades for projects with children.
