In the last two years are water in southern Indiana has become much harder. For Finish Glass Magic to "maintain" shiny spot free glassware, plastic ware, etc. you must do the "First Step." First: Use Glisten dishwasher cleaner on clean dishes only. Glisten is meant to clean the inside of dishwashers but desperate cleaning called for desperate measures. I put a full load of clean glassware in the dishwasher with a full box of Glisten and everything was spotless at the end of one cycle. Since then I add ¼ cup of Finish Glass Magic and use only Finish dishwashing detergent and all is perfect. Glisten was available in groceries, now I have to buy it on the internet. Finish Glass Magic is becoming hard to find so may have to buy that on the internet as well. Next step is to try using Glisten in place of Finish which will allow me to order one product only, and in bulk. We know we need a water softener and researching this. However the softeners that use salt are huge and I own a patio home with limited space in the laundry and mechanical rooms. Currently researching the new softener that does not use salt because it is much smaller. My daughter-in-law who lives in another state was having the same problem and duplicated what I tried and all is fine. As for the comment that Finish Glass Magic doesn't work it does, yet it won't strip of years of calcium build up. Glisten will.
