Customer Review: Cheap Chinese junk at a high price but, serviceable

If I were a bettin' man, I'd put $20 on the nose of the horse that says a Russian never got any place close to this strop.
I'm not sure what all the hype about how great this strop is is?
It's a couple of strips of plastic with linen over one and a really thin piece of leather over the other. If anybody thinks this thing is "quality" they've never been chased around the house by a mom wielding a real leather strop feigning the beating of a lifetime!!! My grandpa had an old leather strop and believe me, if you've ever held one of those in your hands or, for that matter been whacked on the rump with it, you would know what quality is.
Really, this is probably about $2 or $3 worth of material and another couple of bucks in Chinese labor making its value in the real world about $5 or $6.
I did try it last night on several of the straight razors I recently purchased and it seemed to get them close to "shave ready" but no miracles here.
Again, Amazon is a great place to buy a book but, if you are buying something that other people are telling you will last years or is good quality, you better get to the store and put your hand on it first. I know if I had I would have saved my money.

Hardware is very unevenly stamped on but can be adjusted.
Decal is stamped into leather near the flip area so it could affect my edge.
Shipped is very large box, well packaged, no damage.
Cloth side feels great while stropping.
I had a good shave after stropping.
The fact that the ad says Fromm and that's incorrect is upsetting.
